ABOUT Y-WE:

Y-WE cultivates the power of diverse young women* to be creative leadersand courageous changemakers through transformative programs within acollaborative community of belonging.

Y-WE’s mentorship andempowerment programs serve:

Diverse young womenAges 13-26 and adult womenmentors in the greater Seattlearea.

Each year, Y-WE programsdirectly serve 700+ girls andwomen and benefit 2,000+community members.

70% are first or secondgeneration immigrants85% are of color 90% are from low-incomebackgrounds.

Our core programs include: Y-WE Lead (our flagship school-year leadership programs with learningcommunities focused on STEM/Coding; Social-Emotional Health, andCreative Expression & Activism)Y-WE Nature Connections (year-round outdoor activities andenvironmental stewardship, this program includes the youthEnvironmental Leadership Council)Y-WE Create (creative design summer camp)Y-WE Write (creative writing summer camp)Youth Leadership Council and more. All of these programs enable us toachieve our organizational outcomes. These programs:

1. Empower young women to becomeleaders who effect positive change intheir communities. 2. Support young women’s well-being,resiliency, social and emotional skills, andeducation. 3. Develop a diverse intergenerationalcommunity of girls and women in whicheveryone learns from difference,advocates for social justice, andcultivates positive culturaltransformation.

Y-WE programs foster leadershipdevelopment as young women exploreeducation, community, health and self-care,career, creative arts, culture, social changeand the environment. On recent Y-WE surveys, 96% of youthreported increased sense of belonging to asupportive community of diverse girls andwomen and 92% reported increasedcommitment to taking positive action forchange in their communities. In 2017, Y-WE received the Senator PattyMurray Golden Tennis Shoe Award foroutstanding community leadership.

Ignite 10th Anniversary Gala(March 7, 2020): 

Join us as we celebrate a decade

of programs, community, and raisemuch-needed funds so that the

next generation of Y-WEparticipants can attend our

programs, regardless of their abilityto pay.

Career Day: This all-day community event isa rich exploration of academic

and career possibilities.Through collaborative panels,engaging workshops, and a

community resource fair, thisevent will highlight a wide array

of careers engaged in bywomen throughout the Puget

Sound region.

Y-WE COMMUNITY EVENTS:

Youth Leadership Summit: The Leadership Summit is an

opportunity for youth participantsto share their leadership with theentire Y-WE community. Through

youth-led workshops,performances, and art,

participants will showcase whatthey've done, learned, and

created during theirprogramming.

STEM Exploration Day: STEM Exploration Day is a

community day of learning andexploration focused on women’s

careers and studies in STEM fields.The day includes exciting panels &workshops with women who work

in STEM fields sharingperspectives and inspiration about

their careers.
