Core Values

ROOTED

We commit to seek and live the truth (John 16:13).

We set our sights on excellence (Phil 4:8-9).

UNITED

We believe that all of us together are better than any one of us apart (Eph 4:16).

We choose to be life-giving, building up rather than tearing down (Luke 6:37).

EMPOWERED

We are Spirit-led, living in the power, gifts and fruit of the Holy Spirit (Gal 5:25).

We ask with audacity, not insulting God with small thinking (Luke 11:8-10).

TRANSFORMED

We are kingdom-minded, following our King, who came not to be served, but to serve (Matt 20:28).

We have grit, believing that hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard (Gal 6:9).

Commencement Speaker DR. PETE SANCHEZ JR.

Dr. Pete Sanchez, Jr. is presently the Executive Pastor of Worship for New Life Church in Colorado Springs, CO. He provides pastoral care and leadership for the gifted musicians, singers, and songwriters who lead congregational worship for seven (7) New Life congregations. From 2013-2016, he served as Professor of Worship and Pastoral Studies and Executive Vice-President of Academics for The King’s University at Gateway in Southlake, TX. While there, he helped TKU develop their undergraduate worship studies program. He continues to serve TKU as an adjunct professor. Dr. Sanchez is a graduate of Houston Baptist University (BS – Music and Christianity) and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (MDivBL; Doctor of Ministry). He has served as an adjunct professor for Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (Houston campus), Regent University (Virginia Beach, VA), Liberty University (Lynchburg, VA), Columbia Southern University (Orange Beach, AL), the King’s College and Seminary (Van Nuys, CA), and as a guest instructor for Continental Theological Seminary (Brussels, Belgium). As a Vice President for Integrity Music and Dean of The Integrity Worship Institute (1999 - 2011), Dr. Sanchez helped lead an on-campus and online training school for pastors, worship leaders and artists. He was also a regular guest instructor and conference pastor for Integrity Media’s Seminars4Worship regional conferences. His international work with Integrity gave him the unique opportunity to help train pastors and worship leaders from many “closed” countries as well as leaders in Holland, Italy, Malaysia, England, Wales, Russia, Armenia, Cyprus, Taiwan, Belgium, Uruguay, and Brazil. As the composer of the now classic worship song I Exalt Thee, he was also privileged to be the worship leader for the Integrity Hosanna! Music project, I Exalt Thee. Academic Regalia

The hood is a symbol of the degree the wearer holds and is the most distinctive part of the academic dress. The colors of the hood identify the degree and university or college that conferred it. Hoods worn by the faculty of The King’s University in the commencement processional are a colorful spectacle representing the many graduate schools faculty members have attended.

The hood is lined and carries the colors of the institution conferring the degree the hoods for all TKU degrees are lined with purple and silver. The velvet border on the outside of the hood identifies the degree. Theology degrees are signified by the scarlet border, counseling degrees are signified by the light blue border, and organizational leadership degrees are signified by the drab border.

Honor cords are worn to represent the Latin honors earned by each wearer. For undergraduate degrees, the gold and purple cords represent Summa Cum Laude; the silver and purple cords represent Magna Cum Laude; and the purple cords represent Cum Laude. For graduate degrees, the gold and purple represent With High Honors and the silver and purple represent With Honors.

“The King's Hymn” JACK W. HAYFORD

VERSE 1 To the King of King’s this hymn we raise Jesus Christ, the Son of God, we praise We exalt Your Name above all names

We declare Your Kingdom’s endless reign Calv’ry’s Lamb Whose blood mankind can save

Worthy Lord of lords ris’n from the grave As You’ve called us each to follow You

We present our lives today

VERSE 2 To the King of all the Universe

Father God, we laud Your mighty works Great Creator of all things that are From a tender babe to distant star

Still, creation’s wonders seen above You’ve exceeded with redemption’s love

That in Christ restored we might be freed To fulfill Your will today

VERSE 3

So for this we plead Your gifts and power Holy Spirit fill us all this hour

As we praise King Jesus, Christ our Lord Come anoint us to proclaim Your Word

Holy fire consume and purify Holy tongues ignite to glorify

Jesus Christ our Lord-the King of King’s We will follow Him always
