Genesis Chapter 9 Verses 1-4. • Fear and dread of man on animal kingdom. • Man’s diet expanded to include meat. (Compare Genesis 2:16-17). • Man instructed not to eat blood. Verses 5-7. • Commandment not to cause bloodshed. Verses 8-17. • Noahic Covenant confirmed: never again will earth be destroyed by flood. • Sign of the covenant: rainbow. Verses 18-27. • Entire earth populated by Noah’s sons: Shem, Ham, Japeth. • Ham, youngest, sinned against Noah by gossiping, whereas Shem and Japeth
covered Noah’s. • When Noah awoke, he spoke a curse over Ham’s son, Canaan. • NOTE: The curse was not on Ham and all of his descendants: the curse was
spoken over Canaan, one of Ham’s sons. Verse 28. • Noah died at the age of 950 years.
Genesis Chapter 10 Verse 1. • Genealogy of Noah. Verses 2-5. • Genealogy of Japeth. • Gomer (Germans, French, Spanish, Celtics), Magog (Russians), Madai (Iranians,
Iraqis, Indians), Javan (Greeks), Tubal (Turks, Russians), Meshech (Russians), Tiras (Russians, Romanians).
• Settled primarily in Europe. Verses 6-20. • Genealogy of Ham. • Cush (Ethiopians), Mizraim (Egyptians), Put (Lybians), and Canaanites (gone – now
Israel/Palestine). • Settled primarily in Africa, spread to East Asia.

Verses 21-31. • Genealogy of Shem. • Elam (Persians), Asshur (Assyrians), Arphaxad (Lydians of Asia Minor), and Aram
(Abram and the Hebrews). • Settled primarily in Middle East. Verse 32. • The beginning of nations and how the nations were formed.
Genesis Chapter 11 Verses 1-4. • One language (dialect/manner of speech/pronunciation=choice of words), one
speech (unified word/answer/thing=for us, God’s Word). • Didn’t necessarily see it the same way, but they said it the same way. • Clear communication of their desires. Verses 5-6. • God was impressed with their oneness. • God’s observation: the people is one; they all have one language; they are working
together as one. • Result: Nothing will be restrained from them. • Cause: When the people IS one (soul); all have one speech (spirit); working together
as one (body/physical). • Effect: They will accomplish what they propose/imagine/purpose. Verses 7-9. • God disrupted their plans because what they sought to do was contrary to His will. • God requires vertical oneness and horizontal oneness. Verses 10-27. • Genealogy of Shem through Abram. Verses 28-32. • Introduction to Abram.
