The Annapolis Boat Shows have a rich fifty-year history of
exhibiting the latest boats and
yachts of all sizes, alongside
boating products and accessories
to enhance the nautical lifestyle.
Like every year, the Annapolis
Boat Shows have the health and
safety of our exhibitors, attendees,
sponsors, and staff as our highest
priority. In preparation for holding
this year’s outdoor event we are
taking unprecedented steps to
proactively anticipate and deal with
possible complications caused by
COVID-19. We are collaborating with
G U I D I N G P R I N C I P L E S
city officials, county and state health
departments, government officials, and
events with similar characteristics to
develop safety standards, procedures,
and policies to ensure a safe and
productive boat show experience.
We understand how important these
shows are to the boating industry, the
city of Annapolis, and the organizations
who support our exhibitors. We take
this responsibility very seriously and
know that, in this year, we have a
further commitment to protecting all
participants from the possible spread
of COVID-19. This manual details the
extensive measures we will put in
place to limit the threat
of exposure. As guidelines evolve,
this document, too, will evolve until
we have the most comprehensive
health safety protocols possible in
October.
Assemble the highest
quality audience of boat
and accessory consumers,
while safely providing
economic stimulus to
the boating industry, the
city of Annapolis, and
the state of Maryland
by producing two
outstanding outdoor
boat shows in
October 2020.

The following measures have been put in place for the 2020 United States Powerboat Show (Oct 1-4) and United States Sailboat Show (Oct 8-12). As state and federal guidelines are defined, we will continue to update this list.
Daily attendance to the shows will be regulated through pre-sold tickets.
Each day will have a strict maximum capacity level.
Pre-sold Tickets
Daily Cleaning
Social Distancing
Temperature Checks
One-way Walkways
Please Wear Face Covering
Wash & Sanitizing Stations
No Dogs or Strollers
Anyone entering showgrounds will be temperature screened. All
attendees are encouraged to park at the Navy Marine Corps Stadium for temperature checks, ticket scanning,
and hand stamps. Stations will also be located at Yacht Basin
Gate and Main Gate areas.
Showgrounds will close each day at 6:30 p.m (5:00 p.m. on the last days of each show).
Exhibitors and attendees will have 30 minutes to make their
way to the exits. After this, cleaning and disinfection of
the show premises will begin.
All tent configurations have been altered to include one-way only walkways
and air handling systems purifying and moving air.
Touchless hand sanitizing and washing stations,
as well as face covering dispensers, will be made
accessible throughout the show.
All meetings, classrooms, workshops, and VIP areas will
be limited to 50% capacity, allowing for proper physical distancing.
Anyone entering showgrounds
is required to wear a face covering at all times.
Due to Maryland Health Department guidelines, no dogs or strollers will be allowed this year.

Personal Protection:All participants in the shows and entering the show grounds will be required to wear personal protection
equipment (PPE) as prescribed by CDC and Health Department regulations. As a private event anticipating a
sizable gathering of participants, the guidelines dictate the wearing of face coverings at all times regardless if
individuals are experiencing no symptoms. To that end, all individuals entering showgrounds will be screened for
elevated temperatures.
Cleaning and Disinfecting:Show producers will undertake deep cleaning before, during, and after each show day to ensure the highest
standards of hygiene and cleanliness. This includes complete overnight decontamination with disinfecting sprays
and foggers, and continuous high-touch surface cleaning throughout each day of the shows.
Our event staff will also provide additional hand washing facilities (soap and water) and touchless hand sanitizing
stations throughout the event space, encouraging all participants to regularly wash and sanitize their hands.
An abundant use of signs around the show will stress the importance of regular hand washing and no face touching.
Physical Distancing and Contact: Attendance each day will be limited in order to maintain safe separation of guests. A number of day-specific tickets
will be sold online in advance of our shows. Once a day reaches its maximum ticket allotment, guests will be
invited to select a different day.
Guests in line at all entrances will be properly spaced using visual ground markers every six feet and other
distancing signage. Exception: Family members residing together.
Participant signs will discourage physical contact, such as handshakes and embraces, and encourage alternative
ways to greet business contacts and colleagues.

The following measures have been put in place for the 2020 United States Powerboat Show (Oct 1-4) and United States Sailboat Show (Oct 8-12). As state and federal guidelines are defined, we will continue to update this list.
Touchless Online Registration:
• All attendees will be required to purchase day-specific tickets in advance. • A limited number of tickets will be available for each day of the shows. • Once that maximum has been reached for any given day, you will be invited to select a different day.
Pre-show Screening:
• Screening will be performed at the Navy Marine Corps Stadium parking areas – touchless infrared temperature checks, ticket scanning, and hands stamping. Temperatures must be below CDC recommendations of 100.4 F (38.0 C) or entry to the bus and/or show will be denied.
• Face coverings must be worn when boarding and riding the bus and while inside the show grounds.• Backup screening will be performed at the show gate for those not bused from the stadium. • Ticket scanning, temperature screening, and face coverings are required before entry.• All locations will have signs asking health questions.
Personal Protection Equipment (PPE):
• Everyone must wear a face covering at all times. • Allowable coverings include a cloth or approved face covering over nose and mouth or an approved clear plastic
full-face shield. • Anyone failing to do so will be asked by staff to wear the covering or leave the show. CDC- approved coverings will be
available for anyone without their own.
Distancing Etiquette: 6 feet minimum between non-related parties
• 50% of bus seats will be blocked off. Family members will be allowed to sit together. • One-way traffic flow through all pavilion tents will be strictly enforced.

• Attendee buses will be staggered and coordinated to drop at alternate gates.
• Designated lines for pre-checked bus passengers will allow touchless entry.
• In addition to checkpoints at the stadium, medical screening and scanning will be set up at the Yacht Basin and Main Gates.
• Tented structures will be altered to create an open-air environment by installing mesh sides and will be equipped with air movement fans or air handling systems for purification. Additional spacing will be created through a reduction of the number of booths and allow for the installation of HEPA air purifiers in spaces.
• All large pavilion tents will be clearly marked with one-way, wide aisles and traffic flow will be strictly monitored and enforced.
• Gatherings in workshops and/or beverage tasting areas will be eliminated or severely limited in size to allow proper physical distancing.
• Donner parking lot entrance will be designated as a bus rider only entrance.
• The boat show office will be relocated to the entrance of ‘D’ tent on Compromise Street, along with Will Call and a VIP Concierge meeting area.
• All entrance gates will be virtually touchless. Infrared temperature checks, ticket scanning, and hand stamps will be provided if not done at normal checkpoints at the Navy Marine Corps Stadium.
• Signage will be placed in strategic areas throughout the show giving proper warnings, instructions, procedure illustrations, and entrance/exit locations.
• Bathroom facilities will be single stall only, with constant deep

These outdoor shows cover a massive 570,000 square foot area of City Dock
and the surrounding land and water space. Given a six foot circle for each person
attending the show, that space could theoretically accommodate over 16,000
people with proper distancing of 6+ feet.
This year, advance ticket sales will be capped per day, leaving far more
space per person than the required 6’ distancing.
Open sided tents, one-way aisles, temperature pre-screening, face covers at all
times, and constant disinfecting and deep cleaning will absolutely ensure a safe
and comfortable experience for all in attendance while still providing a consumer
population that will provide a productive business climate for our exhibitors.

• Enforce the boat show capacity limits as required by the City of Annapolis through limited ticket availability.
• Participate in daily health surveys, temperature screenings, and use of required PPE.
• Staff must agree to COVID protocols, sign waiver, wear PPE, and follow published transportation protocols.
• Daily cleaning schedule will require extra crew for continuous disinfection of door handles and other high touch surfaces using traditional cleaning techniques and disinfecting spray or fogging technology throughout the day.
• Manage the one-way pedestrian traffic flow and people density for all tented exhibitor areas.
• Maintain multiple points of entrance and exits to ease traffic flow.
• Install touchless hand sanitizing dispensers at entrance, common areas, and boat show and operations staff offices.
• Complete daily questionnaire requiring employees to self-report any symptoms or contact with the virus.
• Check employee temperatures with contactless infrared scanners. Temperatures must be below CDC recommendation of 100.4 F (38.0 C) or staff will be sent home sick.
• Provide staggered breaks to maintain proper employee to employee distances.
• Train all staff on new standard operating procedures with guidelines established by HR department and operations management.

Regular communication will be distributed to our exhibitor group indicating what to expect and what is expected
of them. Cleaning strategies will be requested from each for their unique display area. All will be required to
acknowledge receipt of, understanding of, and agreement to comply. As the guidelines evolve, so will our
communication and this Safety Manual. Various methods of communication will be established with our web
site, AnnapolisBoatShows.com, being the reference point for all communication.
Objectives for each communication and use of specific media include:
Overall goal is to communicate our dedication to have a safe
show, serving our industry in the best possible way and providing a
productive work environment with restrictions.
Communicate the attendance smoothing strategy of limiting the
number of tickets for sale on a daily basis. All show days will see similar, more modest crowds with
the goal of achieving a similar overall attendance without spikes on
certain days.
Insert photos of people wearing proper PPE and social distancing in
our advertising.
Communicate that prior to ticket purchase, consumers must
acknowledge and agree to the terms of our Guidelines.

Stress that those with underlying conditions, showing any signs
of illness or who do not wish to accept the guidelines should stay home this year and visit
again next year.

We will stress the importance and advantage of parking at the Navy Marine Corps Stadium for
pre-check and bus transport.

We are confident that our outdoor event will be safe and productive for all if everyone accepts their
responsibility to protect others, follow the guidelines, and takes it upon themselves to wash hands and
clean common surfaces. We understand how important these shows are to the boating industry, the city
of Annapolis, and the people who support our exhibitors. We are doing everything in our power to
anticipate and address every possible contingency in keeping every participant in our shows safe.
All protocols, regulations, and guidelines recommended by health organizations will be enforced.
Every participant is expected to comply.
