16 percent by 2020.
Accounting majors can find employment along four basic career
paths: public, management, government accounting and internal
auditing. The options within those areas are diverse and many.

COMPLETELY ONLINEWe want to make sure that a little thing like
geography doesn’t keep you from reaching your goals. You can
complete the final two years of undergraduate accounting degree
coursework 100 percent online through SIU Carbondale.
If you are an off-campus student and have already completed your
initial core coursework -- about 60 college-level, transferrable
credits, with a GPA of at least 2.0 -- it is likely you qualify for
our online accounting bachelor’s degree completion program.
Our online students learn from the same quality, full-time
faculty members as our on-campus students and the cost is the same,
too. You won’t even incur any out-of-state charges, no matter where
you live, and your tuition rate is locked in for four years with
continuous enrollment!
WANT TO KNOW MORE?Our program fits your busy lifestyle. It
incorporates approximately 60 hours of coursework. The program is
divided into 10 “course pairings,” with each including two
3-credit-hour courses. Each course runs eight weeks so you can
focus on two classes at a time while still completing four courses
each semester.
The program typically takes about six semesters of study over a
24-month timespan to complete. But it is possible to finish in a
minimum of 18 months.
We are part of an elite group that includes less than one
percent of the accounting programs in the U.S. That’s because we
hold the rare distinction of earning accreditations from the
Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International
for both the college and our accounting program.
The designation, which we must maintain rigorous standards to
retain, speaks to the quality of our faculty, our programs and the
way our college operates.
We are one of just 108 accounting programs across the country
with full membership in the Federation of Schools of Accountancy
and separate AACSB accreditation for our Master of Accountancy
program.
