“Charlie can’t get enough gym time! I think she would sleep there if we let her! She loves seeing her own improvement (3 skills in 3 months!) She has also learned what it means to be part of a team and is learning more about respect. She always talks about her team and her coaches at home, always practicing and telling me to show Coach Maddie! I see so much light in my girl after practice. The staff is downright amazing and dedicated! Everyone is very welcoming and friendly. WE LOVE IT HERE!” — Ciara Dorris

At NEO Allstars, athletes will be placed on a team based on age only for our Novice program. In order to determine your athlete’s correct age division, we have put together a table below.

The year your athlete was born is what determines their “cheer age” for the duration of the sea-son. Teams will be formed by age groups. We may combine age groups based on the amount of athletes.

There is absolutely no difference in the quality of training or performance expectations between the three team types – Elite, Prep, and Novice. Teams will all utilize the same choreography experience, music, practice space and coaching staff. We are excited to offer these options to families who want to compete at the elite level but wish to not travel as far.

Each team will have a team parent (Mom or Dad) that is a huge help to their team! They will be your main source of contact throughout the year regarding team bonding events and athlete meet/pickup locations and times at competitions.

Please understand you must have an email address and Facebook page if you want to receive information from our program. We will also incorporate the ‘Band’ app. These are our main forms of communication.

Please Note

06

Novice teams are an opportunity to become an All Star cheerleader for an extremely low price and low commit-ment level. We have a short 4-month season that will begin in the fall. Novice teams are formed by age and will be designed for Level 1 only.

The Novice division is scored on a rating system and is non-competitive. The athletes will learn stunting, jumps, dance, tumbling and performance!

Team PracticesTeam Practices

Practices will be on Saturdays. The team your athlete is placed on will determine the time. Times will be announced after teams are formed.

Tiny Novice Teams practice for 1 hour.Mini, Youth, Juniors and Senior Novice Teams practice for 1.5 hours.

Fall practices are mandatory for Novice members and will begin on Saturday, November 7th.

Team Practices

Coaches will have the ability to schedule one extra practice a month. These dates will be sent out ahead of time and be on our Gym Calendar. Typically, we add extra practices before an event. Extra practices are not mandatory but strongly encouraged in order to have a productive practice. In the event of an injury, replacement, or removal of an athlete, we will promptly add a practice to prepare for a competition effectively.

Practices during competition week are mandatory and athletes must be present to be eligible to compete with their team.

Frequently Asked QuestionsQ: When will my athlete “move up”?A: We select teams in the spring/fall of each year. It is very unlikely that a child will move up a level on a team during the year. In tumbling class, an athlete may advance during the evaluations held during the last week of every month.

Q: Can my athlete be a flyer?A: If a coach feels that your athlete should fly, then he/she will. There are several different things we look at when selecting flyers: previous experience, flexibility, and attitude. It is a very challenging position and it is not for everyone. Also, if your athlete was a flyer previously, it doesn’t necessarily mean they will always be a flyer. Often, the best bases were initially flyers!

Q: Why do we have to sign a contract to be on an All Star team?A: The contract actually protects your investment on the team. When team members are not committed, it hinders the teams progress. This contract ensures that everyone placed on a team is serious about their involvement.

Q: What tier will my athlete be placed on?A: This will be based on the age.

Every Novice athlete will be guaranteed a team.
