JUROR’S COMMENTSII was honoured to receive the invitation to juror the PineRidge Arts Council’s 6thannual Juried Photography Exhibition. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
The 128 images submitted represented all photographic genres. Indeed, it wasa challenge to select the final images for the exhibit and to include as many ofthe photographers as possible. Although I’m very involved in photography, withprinting being one of my favourite aspects, I was pleasantly surprised that manyof the images popped to life in their final printed form. It definitely supports myopinion that photographs deserve to be printed, shared and exhibited vs. left toobscurity on our cell phones, tablets and computers or in the cloud.

The purposes behind this competition are to attract as many local photogra-phers as possible, both adult and youth, to mount an impressive exhibit for thecommunity to enjoy and to recognize the local photographic talent. Those pur-poses have been achieved each year and this year was no exception. Con-gratulations to PRAC for your success!
Congratulations must also go to everyone who participated. Even if your imageswere not chosen for the exhibit, please don’t be discouraged. I speak from ex-perience when I say that every competition you enter is a learning experience. Iwould venture to guess that there are a few who have entered each year andwere chosen for the first time this time around. Those photographers whose im-ages were accepted will be beaming with pride as they show off their work tofamily and friends. The winners will be especially pleased with their achievement… congratulations.
Lastly, a word to all entrants and any photographers reading this: print your art, show it off by hanging it in your home, give it away as gifts so others can enjoy itand explore the possibility of exhibiting in various area venues—galleries, restau-rants and offices.
I look forward to seeing you at the May 2nd exhibit opening. Enjoy the show!
