Dear Exhibitor,
Note that changes have been made to the premium list this year. Pay close attention to
the rules below and throughout this guide.
Rules—
1. Articles must be the work of the Exhibitor and a resident of Wells County. All
Wells County FCE, quilt guilds, 4-H or FFA members or other Wells County
based group members may exhibit even if they do not reside in the county.
2. Articles that have received premiums at previous Wells County Fairs are not
eligible.
3. No person can enter more than one item in each lot, unless listed otherwise.
4. Articles must be worthy of merit to be awarded premiums.
5. All articles entered which are not listed in premium list will be entered for display
only, no premium will be paid.
When a class and lot are specified for a particular item, it may not be entered in a lot of
“Other”.
Awards—
Grand and reserve champions will be awarded in the major categories. Overall grand
and reserve will be chosen from the grand champions.

The divisions for Class and Lots will be denoted by appending the following to the class
and lot # unless otherwise specified-
A-adult, 18-64 years of age S-Senior, 65 years of age or over

All artwork must have an appropriate hanger. Oils must be framed and ready to hang-
only use screw eyes and wire. Watercolors, prints and drawings must be matted,
backed with cardboard or foam core and have an appropriate hanger for size and
weight.

Definitions-
Scenes-A view, landscape, seascape, moonscape,etc
Portraits-Likeness of a person or persons.
Pure Nature-Wildflowers, wild animals, etc. Should not include the handiwork of
man(roads, buildings, cultivated plants, domesticated animals,etc.).
Domestic Nature-Animals, pets, cultivated flowers.
Photojournalism-Picture that tells a story.
Genre-Human interest, occupations, candids, not a posed picture, subject should not be
looking at camera
Wells County Fair-Must be taken at the fair of educational, livestock, produce, exhibits,
human interest scenes, or midway.
Silhouette-the image of a person, animal, object or scene represented in a solid shape
of a single color.
Computer altered-Distortion or change in color, shape or purpose.

Mount on tag board. Lettering should be attractive, neat and well spaced. Explanations
on 3x5 cards may be necessary to properly understand your project. Be sure to tell the
special circumstances and history of your project. Construct the display so it will not fall
apart with normal handling.
