This is a beginning to advance level camp for girls entering grades 6-12. Campers will be separated by age, skill level, and experience to allow for consistent level of competition on each court. All skills of volleyball will be covered: Serving, passing, hitting, blocking, defense, and setting. We will then tie the technical work of each skill into game play to allow for improvement of skills while in a controlled drill. Instruction will be provided by UB coaching staff and players. The camp will be located in Alumni Arena in the main gym and will include a camp T-shirt. Overnight $350 Commuter $275 Check-in July 12 at 10am; Checkout July 14 at 12 noon Named Head Coach in January of 2019, Smith begins his fiſth season with UB Volleyball. As associate head coach, Smith worked directly with liberos and serve-receive, blocking, and ran the defense, building a strong foundation at UB. In 2018 the team set new records in conference play, going 10-6 in the MAC, finishing fourth in conference standings and 18-11 overall on the season. Prior to UB, Smith spent five seasons as an assistant at Georgia Southern. The Eagles won over 100 matches during his five-year tenure on the coaching staff, including two NCAA Tournament appearances and two Southern Conference Championships. Beck begins his first season as assistant coach with the Buffalo volleyball program. He most recently served as a volunteer assistant with the University of Virginia. Prior to this Beck served as a graduate assistant coach at Georgia Southern for two years. While with the Eagles, he assisted in all aspects of running the program while earning a master’s in public administration. Beck also coached for the Arizona Sky Club. He worked with the 18U women’s team and helped the club to its first USA Volleyball Nationals in program history. Beck played collegiate volleyball at Grand Canyon University from 2012-14. Named Head Coach in January of 2019, Smith begins his fifth season with UB Volleyball. MEALSBreakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided to overnight campers. Commuter campers will be provided with lunch and dinner.

OVERNIGHT STAYOvernight campers will be in charge of bringing pillows, blankets, sheets, towels, toiletries, etc. in order to furbish the dorm rooms. Campers will be housed either 2, 3, or 4 to a room.

FACILITIESAlumni Arena Main Gym: Alumni Arena’s main gymnasium is home to UB women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, and wrestling. The largest “free-floating” hardwood floor in the United States at the time it was built, it features basketball, volleyball and badminton courts circled by a 200-meter track and seating for 6,100 spectators.

Edward L. Wright Practice Facility (Triple Gym): UB’s state of the art practice

facility was named in honor of Edward Wright who has served UB for over 40 years as a coach, administrator and teaching professional. The facility was renovated in the summer of 2009 and is now a state-of-the-art practice facility for Buffalo’s

athletic programs, including basketball and volleyball.

NCAA rules prohibit representative of UB’s athletics interests (a booster) who is not naturally or legally responsible for a prospective student-athlete (grades 9-12) from providing any expenses to attend a camp or clinic. Violations of this could result in loss of NCAA eligibility for the prospective student-athlete. PARKINGWhen dropping off or picking up campers, please park in the lot behind Alumni Arena near the tennis courts (see map).

ATHLETIC TRAINERA UB athletic trainer will be on site at all times. The UB training room facilities will be available for use by all campers.

INSURANCEEach participant should have medical insurance. Any medical bills incurred will be billed to the participant’s insurance company. Any medical expenses not covered by your insurance are the responsibility of the participant’s parents or guardians.

CANCELLATION POLICYA $20 processing fee will be charged for any cancellations. A partial refund will be granted to a camper as a result of time loss due to injury or illness; no refunds will be provided for campers who are dismissed due to disciplinary reasons.

EVENT WAIVER AGREEMENT

2019 VOLLEYBALLGIRLS ELITE/ALL SKILLS OVERNIGHT CAMP

In consideration for allowing Participant to participate in Camp, I/we, as parents and/or guardians of Participant, agree to the following:

• Authorize Participant to participate in the Camp for the Camp Dates stated above.

• Release, indemnify and hold harmless the University at Buffalo Sports Camps from any and all damages, except for damages caused by the sole gross negligence or intentional misconduct of the University at Buffalo, arising out of the participation of Participant in the Camp.

• Prior to the commencement of the Camp, I/we were made aware of the nature of the Camp, had sufficient opportunity to inquire further, and understand the Camp has inherent risks and I/we and Participant assume, on behalf of Participant, all those inherent risks.

• While participating in the Camp, Participant is subject to the policies, rules and regulations of the University at Buffalo Sports Camps. Possession of fireworks, explosives, any weapon, illegal drugs or alcohol is prohibited and cause for immediate expulsion from the Camp. Further, any Participant repeatedly disobeying University policies, rules or regulations may be expelled from the Camp.

• Authorize University at Buffalo Sports Camps, its employees, clinicians, athletic trainers, nurses and agents (collectively, “Activity Sponsor”) the authority to seek, obtain, and approve any medical care and treatment including, but not limited to x-ray examination, anesthetic, medical, dental or surgical diagnosis, or treatment and medical care which may be recommended and provided under the general supervision of any physician or surgeon, for Participant which, in their judgment, is necessary for the health and well-being of Participant during his/her participation in the Camp.

I/We further agree that I/we are(am) solely responsible for any costs incurred and agree to hold the University at Buffalo, their employees and agents (collectively, “University”) harmless for any liability arising out of any good faith action taken in obtaining medical treatment for Participant.

The above agreements are binding upon us, our estates, heirs, representatives and assigns. I hereby authorize the release of any medical information which might be needed in connection with payment for medical services.

I request that payment under my medical insurance program be made directly to the provider on any bills for services rendered by that provider. I understand that I am financially responsible for all costs not paid by my medical insurance program.
