Early Childhood Screening The early childhood years frombirth to the start of kindergartenare an important time of rapidlearning and growth. MinnesotaLaw requires each child attend ahealth and developmental screen-ing before starting school. The pur-pose of Early Childhood Screeningis to identify possible health orlearning concerns so that childrencan get help before they startschool. Screening is highly recom-mended between the ages of 3 ½ -4 years old. Waiting until a child isstarting kindergarten may be wait-ing too long.

Learn how to ride, and earn yourmotorcycle license endorsement inthis 14.5-hour course featuring 10hours of on cycle training and 4.5hours of classroom training.Supportive and friendly instructorswill teach you how to operate amotorcycle and the basic skills youneed to safely ride on the street.Training motorcycles are provided forriders of all sizes. INCLEMENT WEATHER PROCEDUREWhile the guidelines below are generally the criteria which will be fol-lowed to determine outdoor rink and warming house closures, we re-serve the right to close rinks whenever we feel it is in the best interestand safety of the participants. You may also check the City of ThiefRiver Falls Facebook page or listen to the local radio station.

All regularly scheduled rinks and lights will remain open unless:1. The air temperature is -10 degrees or below.2. The wind chill factor is -20 degrees or below.3. Unusually warm temperature has softened the ice, making

the rinks unsafe for skating.4. We receive a snowfall of more than two inches. This could

delay cleaning the rinks and opening the building

Public Skating/Adult Open HockeyPublic Skating is scheduled periodically at the Ralph Engelstad Arenaand Huck Olson Memorial Civic Center. Register Early for ClassesYou are enrolled in a class upon receipt of registration with payment.  No class confirmations are sent. Our classes are open to everyone in the ThiefRiver Falls community and the surrounding area.  Classes are filled on a first-come first-serve basis, however you can register up to the first day ofclass, if there is an opening.  Classes are sometimes canceled due to lack of enrollment, so it is best to register as soon as possible.  You will be notifiedif a class is canceled.

Cancellation Policy

In the event you have to cancelIf you have to cancel, we can give a full refund if you notify the Community Education office at least two business days prior to the first class meeting.In the unlikely event your class is canceled, we will give a full refund.

In the event of inclement weatherDuring the school year, if Thief River Falls schools are canceled due to inclement weather, Community Education classes are canceled as well. Tune intolocal television stations or KTRF (1230) or KKAQ (1460) for announcements.

Class AttendanceYour payment for registration will be for the entire session regardless of what days or how many times you attend. If participants miss class for anyreason, no refunds or makeup sessions will be made. If a class is canceled due to instructor illness, inclement weather, etc., every effort will be made toschedule a makeup session.

Age Requirement & ChildrenAdult Enrichment classes are designed for those 18 and older, unless otherwise indicated. You must arrange for childcare during our classes. Childrenare not to attend class with you, or be left unsupervised in the schools.

Photography PolicyUpon registering for an activity, participants agree that any photographs taken by Community Education staff become property of Community Education,and use of such photographs does not entitle participants to compensation of any kind.
