It has been an honour to be the principal of such an amazing school. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here and have seen the school grow in so many areas. West Ryde Public School is such a place where the minds and hearts of our students are still fresh and open ready to be moulded into quality citizens of the world ready to make a difference to the future. New Assistant Principal It is with great pleasure that we welcome Mrs Patricia Whittaker as the new permanent substantive Assistant Principal at West Ryde PS. Congratulations Mrs Whittaker. ‘nothing left unattempted’

Principal’s Message As this is my last newsletter I would like to thank the whole school community for

your continued support for me, the staff and the students of West Ryde Public

School. It has been an honour to be the principal of such an amazing school. I have

thoroughly enjoyed my time here and have seen the school grow in so many areas.

The aspirations of public education have not changed over time where we strive to

produce students who are egalitarian in their attitudes and who strive for excellence

in education no matter what their social standing, race or religion.

West Ryde Public School is such a place where the minds and hearts of our students

are still fresh and open ready to be moulded into quality citizens of the world ready

to make a difference to the future.

New Assistant Principal It is with great pleasure that we welcome Mrs Patricia Whittaker as the new

permanent substantive Assistant Principal at West Ryde PS. Congratulations Mrs

Whittaker.

Acting Principal Term 2 In consultation with Mr Christopher Charles I am happy to report that Ms Albina Lee

will be Acting Principal for Term 2 until the process of employing a new principal is

finalised.

Congratulations and Farewell In April 2011 we were lucky enough to employ Mr Peter Hayllar in his first role as an

Assistant Principal. During this time Mr Hayllar has added value to the school in

many aspects of school life. Next term he will take up the position of Deputy

Principal at Lindfield Public School pending the expiration of the normal ten day

process.

We wish Mr Hayllar all the very best for his new role and thank him for all that he

has done for the students, the school and the community. Good luck and best

wishes.

On Tuesday 26 March, the student school leaders attended a civics education workshop at the Whitlam Institute

within Western Sydney University (Parramatta Campus).

The student participated in a series of hands-on, interactive activities focusing on themes of citizenship,

democracy and civic rights and responsibilities. The students also participated in a tour of the historic Female

Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. Please note if you have previously completed this in 2018, you will not need to do so again this year.

Parking around School The school has received a number of complaints from neighbours in Endeavour Street, Bennet Street and Mons

Avenue regarding parents parking in driveways as well as on private property within the blocks of units when

picking up and dropping off children. Please consider neighbours when you are parking around the school and

keep all driveways clear. It is prohibited to park in vacant car spaces within blocks of units.

Election Day BBQ 23rd March 2019

If you are fairly new to Australia, I would love to introduce the term

“Democracy Sausage” to you.

"Democracy sausage" is a colloquial name given to the sausages cooked and

eaten as part of the Australian tradition of holding a fundraising sausage

sizzle at polling places on election day. West Ryde Public School kept the

tradition alive and going on the 23rd of March, when the state elections were

held. It is not easy to come at 7 in the morning, open the school gates, set up

the Barbeque and get it going. Our wonderful school parents turned up on a

Saturday morning and made sure that it was perfect. By the time everything

was packed away, it was past 2pm. Many children were enthusiastically

involved as well. I would like to thank each and every one of you and if you

don’t see your name but helped on the day, you know we really appreciate

your help-THANK YOU !!!

Big shout out to all our wonderful parents in no particular order- Karina, Geoff ,Richard ,Sally, Russell ,Shelley

,Scott ,Jo, Chris, Amy , Alison, Vanessa, Ruth, Ruiming, Luc, Michael and Hannah. Thank you for supplying these

wonderful pictures Hannah. I would have loved to see your smiling face too

Thank you Carol!

Our kitchen garden gets its tender love and care from Mrs.Thompson and her

little helpers. She generally sells the produce every Monday. Here I would like

to thank one of our parents, Carol, who donated so many Marigold plants to

the school. These were all sold and the proceeds will be used towards taking

care of the garden. I am so proud of the WRPS parent community. We are a

great team! Thank you!
