A Charity Fundraising Event for PHASE Worldwide

A night with rosie swale popeWednesday 6 March 7.30pmPlease join Nepal charity, PHASE Worldwide for an evening of thrilling entertainment. Rosie Swale Pope, a long-standing patron of PHASE will be on stage telling stories of her magnificent global adventures.

Rosie is an author, adventurer and marathon runner, who successfully completed the longest unsupported run in world history - over 20,000 miles in 1789 days (5 years). Rosie has faced wolves, extreme cold and loneliness. Constantly saying, “I can!”, Rosie embodies the core values and ethos of PHASE Worldwide.

In the 1970s, Rosie sailed to Australia and back with her husband and young daughter, giving birth to her son on board. Rosie took up marathon running when she was 48 and a few of her other achievements include sailing single-handed across the Atlantic in a small boat, trekking 3,000 miles alone through Chile on horseback and completing the gruelling Marathon Des Sables in the Sahara - twice!

In 2003 Rosie ran across Nepal to raise funds for PHASE.

Proceeds from the evening will gotowards PHASE projects inisolated areas of Nepal.

Paul Allen Thursday 4 April 7.30pmMeteorologist and broadcaster Peter Gibbs has spent more than 30 years as a front line forecaster with the UK’s Met Office and as one of the BBC national weather presenting team.

Peter co-chairs the iconic Radio 4 show ‘Gardeners’ Question Time’ (reputed to be the longest-running

radio show in the world!) and is a regular reporter on the Radio 4 environment series ‘Costing the Earth’.

His first job as a meteorologist was running the weather observation programme at the British Antarctic Survey’s remote Halley research station in Antarctica in the early 1980s. He returned to Antarctica in 2016 to report on the global importance of the science programme at Halley for the BBC’s flagship science show ‘Horizon’.

Hear him in conversation with Old Laundry Trustee, playwright and broadcaster Paul Allen.

This one-woman show charts the romantic misadventures of a young English girl in New York in the heady days of the 1980’s. Brimming with optimism, she seeks success and love. As she weaves her way through the maze of the city and her own anxieties and heartaches she begins to wonder whether she’s been looking for love in all the wrong places. HOW TO FIND USThe Old Laundry Theatre is situated on Crag Brow in the centre of Bowness-on- Windermere, LA23 3BX. We share a building with The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction which is signposted with brown tourist information signs.

There is plenty of Car Parking in the vicinity of the Theatre. The SLDC Car Park on Rayrigg Road (LA23 3BZ) is the nearest, just across the road. There is also a Car Park up the hill near to The Royalty Cinema and free street parking after 6pm. If you have mobility problems please contact us to reserve one of two spaces available.

Come and enjoy a relaxed and friendly pre- theatre dining experience in our popular Bistro. The Bistro is situated across the road in our beautifully restored Laundrama Studio; dining generally starts at 6.00pm. Most shows have a joint ticket and dining option.
