Enterprise IoTadoption in China
At the end of 2018, GSMA Intelligence conducted a survey to track adoption of IoT by businesses and understand the drivers and challenges in the enterprise IoT sector.
The survey covered 2,000 companies of 20+ employees, spanning 14 markets and 8 verticals.
Integration with existing technology and security/privacy are the biggest challenges perceived by enterprises globally, but these are a particular concern in China: more than 60% of Chinese companies surveyed cited these challenges compared to less than half of businesses overall.
• Cost saving is the number one reason for deploying enterprise IoT solutions globally, and even more so in China
• Three quarters of Chinese companies also expect IoT deployments to increase revenue – the highest proportion across all surveyed countries
Almost three quarters of surveyed companies in China had deployed an IoT solution by 2018, compared to around two thirds globally
Almost 80% of Chinese companies that have deployed IoT plan further IoT solutions, slightly above the global average of three quarters
