About Us Recognizing that the demand for electric and hybrid propulsion systems is growing rapidly and goes beyond mainstream passenger and commercial vehi-cles, BorgWarner acquired two Oregon-based businesses in early 2019. BorgWarner formed Cascadia Motion LLC to buy assets and merge the opera-tions of the companies – Rinehart Motion Systems LLC and AM Racing Inc. Cas-cadia Motion retains an entrepreneurial culture and explores the wide variety of electric and hybrid propulsion solutions for niche and emerging applications.

“Rinehart Motion Systems and AM Racing are two well-established companies in the specialty electric and hybrid propulsion sector,” said Hakan Yilmaz, Chief Technology Officer at BorgWarner. “Bringing them together as Cascadia Mo-tion allows us to offer design, development and production of full electric and hybrid propulsion systems for niche and low-volume manufacturing applica-tions.”

Cascadia Motion combines the proficiencies of both companies in a startup atmosphere designed to serve customers with innovative solutions. Rinehart Motion Systems brings expertise in propulsion inverters and controls for elec-tric and hybrid electric vehicles in professional motorsports, motorcycles, spe-cialty road cars, bus, and heavy duty sectors. AM Racing designs and manufac-tures single- and dual-core electric motors and gearsets used in all these same market segments. Both companies have served these markets for many years.

“Cascadia Motion builds upon the excellent foundation made by Chris Brune, Larry Rinehart, Adrian Hawkins and Marty Schmitz as well as the rest of the RMS and AMR team members,” said Brock Fraser, General Manager at Cas-cadia Motion. “Everyone here is truly enthusiastic about our current products as well as what’s coming next.”

Cascadia Motion LLC expands BorgWarner’s ability to support a wide variety of customers with small scale projects, specialty products, and low volume manu-facturing needs. In addition, BorgWarner’s global production facilities can be utilized as Cascadia Motion customers grow to require high-volume produc-tion.
