Ooredoo Telecom (formerly Nawras) became the second cellular provider (GSM) to be awarded a license to operate in Oman with an paid upfront license fee of OMR 40 million (US$ 104 million). Qtel’s first venture outside Qatar
December 2007
Ooredoo launched its 3G/3.5G services
April 2009
The TRA awarded Ooredoo the Sultanate’s second fixed license
November 2010
Successful IPO, Ooredoo was listed on the Muscat Stock Market (MSM).
February 2013
Commercial launch of its 4G LTE services

Nawras rebranded into ‘’Ooredoo ” as one global entity with 12 international operations, with global HQ in Doha, Qatar.

Itqan Tech Development LLC (“Itqan”) leading a process of forming a consortium to establish 3rd Mobile Operator.
Vodafone to become ‘strategic partner’ for third mobile operator in Oman
“signing of a memorandum of understanding between the company owned by a local consortium of investment funds and between Vodafone (as a strategic partner) for obtaining the third operator license to provide mobile public telecommunications services in the Sultanate”
5G Frequency for Mobile and Fixed Network
Reaching agreement with TRA on a unified 5G, 3.5GHz Frequency Range with (100 MHz) Band of both Fixed and Mobile Requirements
Oman Tower Company
