Wednesday 14 th August - 3/4MH & 2/3B library. Thursday 15 th August - 5/6G library. Friday 16 th August - 2/3B assembly, Silver Awards. Mr Burkitt’s Message WOW! Education Week for Bonville Public School was outstanding. Our school choir started the week off at Park Beach Plaza, performing six songs to a large audience of shoppers and parents. Many passers by asked what school our students were from and commended them for their beautiful voices and their wonderful enthusiasm. What I let them know is that our Bonville Public Choir just continues to improve every time they perform publicly. This improvement is certainly a result of many hours of practice and the dedication of their choral leader, Ms Tanis. Also, at Park Beach Plaza, our school senior dance group performed for the very first time in front of a live audience and they too were able to show their talents. Lots of hard work and dedication will also ensure that they too continue to build upon each and every performance. Last Wednesday, I was fortunate enough to attend the Toormina District PSSA Athletics Carnival with Ms Grace and Ms Osterloh. Bonville Public had approximately 45 students attend and we were so proud of each and every one of our students. Irrespective of whether they were running first or last, none of our students gave up and they continued to try their very best all day. I always remember being told... "that character is not built on coming first every time but true character and resilience is the ability to be beaten, come second or last or any where in between and pick yourself up and give it another go the next chance you get." We learn more about ourselves when things get tough! Our Bonville students showed true character and determination when competing amongst the four other bigger schools. Well done kids. Thank you to the many parents who were able to attend Friday's breakfast BBQ and supported our school book fair. Almost $2000 worth of books were purchased which meant that the school received a great amount of new books for our library. The character parade was also very well attended and it was so great to see so many students dressed as their favourite book characters. Annual School Tree Audit was undertaken last month and a large number of our large gum trees have been identified for removal. For the safety and operational requirements of our school we have asked that this be done during the next school holidays. All trees removed will be replaced with native species. Continued… 2020 enrolments are currently being taken and as I said last week we have many people wishing to enrol. At this point in time we are very close to being able to create a 6th class. To be able to do this we would need 131 students. Currently our projected numbers are approximately 128. If you know of any students who have not yet collected enrolment forms we would greatly appreciate them contacting the school. Mrs Hunter and myself will be joining 20 other principals and teachers on Wednesday and Thursday in Sydney. We will be visiting 4 high performing public schools. This will provide us with a great opportunity to identify any new ideas and initiatives that could potentially improve student learning outcomes here at Bonville Public. Bonville Public School P and C meeting will be held this evening at 6pm in the school library. We hope to see you all there. Congratulations to all the Colouring in competition winners! Thank you for your continued support. Dean Burkitt Pie Drive: Don’t forget to support this great fundraiser for our school. All pie orders are due in by 22nd August.
