The Coolest Celebration on Earth! ™Our new location, Kellogg Mall Park, served as the central hub for the Winter Carnival. There was so much to enjoy in a very cold polar vortex this year, such as the new warming house that served Bailey’s and Craft Beer, live entertainment, multiple Ice Bars, themed events, Ice Carving Competitions and so much more! The Saint Paul Winter Carnival’s other Signature Events, and new additions, continues to drive the spirit of the festival including; the Royal Coronation, the Securian Financial Winter Run, Kids’ and Family Days, the Grand Day and Torchlight parades, and the inaugural Hops and Hounds event.

Highlights include:• Our move to Kellogg Mall Park brought us more space for ice carvings, outdoor seating, a Northern Scout display, a new Bailey’s warming house with Saint Paul craft beers, along with a beautiful view of the Mississippi River.

• Winter Carnival attracted new furry guests as we wrapped up the Carnival with our inaugural Hops and Hounds event. The St. Paul Police Department’s Therapy Dog, Sgt. Fuzz, was also a wonderful addition to the guests!

• The Fancy Hot Dish Competition at The Lexington showcased local culinary greats competing in one of the most cut-throat competitions Minnesota has to offer. Attendees enjoyed samples of the prepared dishes and voted for their favorite to crown the People’s Choice winner!

• The King Boreas Grand Day Parade featured Joe Mauer as our 2019 Grand Marshal and the Torchlight Parade drew thousands of viewers completed with fireworks over the Mississippi River.

• The Vulcan Snow Park once again featured interactive winter fun with snow slides, snow sculptures, two thrilling Polar Plunges and a new 3,500 square foot Fire Castle with mini golf.

• The Treasure Island Resort & Casino Entertainment Stage provided themed entertainment such as Cinco de Mayo Happy Hour, hosted UCare Music in the Park, and brought headliners like The 70's Magic Sunshine Band, Yam Haus, Martin Zellar, a local song writer showcase and much more!

The event was organized differently this year. We made these changes after a great deal of input and conversations with the community and other key stakeholders. We were encouraged to find ways to improve access to parking, look at ways to stage more of the activities away from neighborhood areas and to do more to make this a safe and fun way for the community to gather.

The new plan organized attractions and other parts of the event within a smaller footprint that used a different layout, which included a wider footprint in a more commercial area. We kept the same amount of square feet.

Highlights include:• The Parade continues to be the most popular and most anticipated event of the festival, attracting thousands of attendees! Nearly 80 local groups and organizations which participated and represented cultural and/or community organizations based on the West Side and surrounding Saint Paul communities.

• Four main stages provided all-day entertainment. Featured performances by DJ Angel, Expression Tropical, DJ MonchY, Los Algres Bailadores, and more, added live entertainment throughout the entire event.

• 20th Annual Car, Truck & Bike Show continues to be a crowd pleaser showcasing dozens of lowrider cars, mini trucks, bikes and hydraulic system• The Sports Zone expanded to include lucha libre wrestling, a gaga pit, separate boxing matches, 3v3 soccer games, USTA tennis lessons, and a climbing wall.

• Two Jalapeño Eating Contests gave patrons a chance to win cash and gift card prizes from local restaurants. The El Grito contest challenged the audience to find the best Grito on the Westside!

• The festival featured 100+ food, retail and specialty product and service vendors.
