50+ DanceSport Challenge

We are very proud and honored to be a part of the Arnold Sports Festival, the largest multisport festival in the world. The 50+ DanceSport Challenge will take place on Saturday, March 2, 2019, starting at 10 a.m. The competition this year will be filmed by request of the National Senior Games in order to be reviewed as a new sport for the Senior Games, (formerly the National Senior Olympics). The 50+ DanceSport Challenge is the only dance competition in the world for dancers 50 and better only. We have competitions in all levels and styles for Pro/Am and Am/Am. In the Pro/Am division only the student must be 50 or better. In the Am/Am division at least one of the couple must be 50 or better. In the In the Am/Am Scholarships and Olympic Style events both partners must be 50 or better. We are pleased to announce that our venue this year is the Sheraton Columbus Capital Square, located in downtown Columbus, Ohio. This is a full service hotel with many amenities. NEW THIS YEAR!! We are offering Nine-Dance and Ten-Dance Competitions in all Medal Levels. To qualify for the Nine and Ten Dance events you must register and compete in the same dances in the freestyle events. We will award trophies for each division. Plus Top Teacher and Top Studio Awards. Your admission also grants you admission to the Arnold EXPO at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. We thank you for your support of this competition. Whether this is your first time or you are a veteran competitor, we guarantee you will have a great time. Without your dedication and enthusiasm this event would not be possible. We invite you to make some new friends and have some fun. 1. All persons attending this event whether as a spectator, competitor, official or guest are obligated to adhere to the official rules set forth by this committee.

2. Loss or theft: No responsibility for the loss or theft of articles left in changing rooms, ballrooms or hotel can be accepted by the organizers. The aforementioned entities cannot be held liable for any injuries sustained by any persons attending this event. Everyone attending this event does so at his or her own risk.

3. Material: Material used should be based on the NDCA step list or any of its affiliates. Closed freestyles are restricted to syllabus material. Open freestyles are not restricted to syllabus. Drops are allowed in Gold and above categories and Solo Routines. Lifts are allowed in Theatre Arts Solos and Advanced level Am/Am Hustle only.

4. Age Category: You may enter (2) two age groups. Your true age level and one adjacent group down. The age of Amateur couples is determined by the age of the older participant. At least one of the Am/Am couple must be fifty (50) or older.

5. Medal Level: You may enter up to (3) three medal levels. All levels must be adjacent. No skipping of levels. You may enter in different levels in different styles.

6. Solo Routines: No solo is to exceed (3) three minutes. Music must be on a CD ready to play. 7. Dress Code: Costumes are permitted in all levels 8. Video taping: there is no personal video taping allowed in the ballroom. Still pictures are permitted. 9. Judges: The judges’ decision will be final. No one is allowed to question a judge about any marks. 10. On Deck: It is the dancers’ responsibility to be in the on deck area two (2) heats prior to their scheduled events.

You must also be in the ballroom thirty (30) minutes prior to your scheduled time. 11. Release Statement: You hereby give consent to the release of your name and likeness to be used in photographs,

television, filming and recording of this event in connection with the television broadcast, exhibition, distribution or promotion of this event in any manner and by any means now or in the future. If any person has an objection to being taped please notify the organizers in writing two (2) weeks prior to the event. Failure to do so will be considered as permission.

12. Multi Dance Divisions: To qualify for a Medal Multi Dance division you must enter the number of freestyles (single dance entries) as your Multidance. You may enter only one (1) medal level of Multidance, the highest level of your freestyles. You may also enter Nine Dance, Ten Dance, Olympic Style and Open Championships. There are two age divisions in the Multidance. 'A' =50-64 'B' = 65+

13. ln the Olympic style heats Medals/ trophy will be handed out to the winners. 14. For the Pro/Am Freestyle and Multidance events only the student must be 50 or older. The teacher may be any

age. 15. For the Am/Am Freestyle events one of the couple must be 50 or older. The age is determined by the oldest of the

couple. 16. For the Am/Am Olympic Style Dance Divisions both partners must be 50 or older. ________________________________________________________________________________________
