ABOUTUSOWNERSHIPJenks Beauty College is a wholly owned by Standard Beauty College of Oklahoma, LLC; anOklahoma Limited Liability Corporation. CAREEROPPORTUNITIESThebeautyindustryisavastandgrowingfield.Withsomuchopportunityincosmetology,naildesignandesthetics,thereareplentyofoptionsoutthereforyou,althoughJenksBeautyCollegedoesnotguaranteeemployment.Careerprospectsforbeautyschoolgraduatesaremanyoncetheyfinishtheireducation.Intoday’ssociety,everyonewantstolookdifferentandthatiswhythefieldofcosmetologyisverymuchindemand.Graduatescaneitherworkforacompanyorbeself-employed.Thereareanumberofemploymentopportunitiesforbeautyschoolgraduates.Theycanchooseanyofthefollowingfieldsaspertheirinterests:HairStylist HairLossSpecialistSalonorSpaManager PlatformArtistHairColoringTechnician BeautySupplySpecialistEstheticianorFacialist ProductEducatorMakeupArtist TeacherorInstructorEyelashTechnician SalonorSpaOwnerNailTechnicianTHEPHYSICALDEMANDSOFPRACTICINGTHEPROFESSIONGoodhealthandstaminaareimportantinthecosmetologyprofessionbecauseofthelonghoursthat are spent on your feet. Wearing supportive and comfortable shoes cannot be stressedenough. Most full-timecosmetologistswork40hoursaweekbut longerhoursarecommon inthisoccupation,especiallyamongself-employedworkers.Workschedulesmayincludeeveningsand weekends, when beauty shops and salons are busiest. Weekends and lunch periods areusuallyverybusy;thereforecosmetologistsusuallytakebreaksduringlesspopulartimes.Nearly

half of all cosmetologists work part time or have variable schedules. (Source: OccupationalOutlookHandbook)SAFETYREQUIREMENTSFORTHEPROFESSIONProlongedexposuretosomehairandnailproductscanbehazardous. Maximumprecautionaryprocedures, safe, sanitary and appropriate preparation and application of chemicals shall betaughtandobservedatall times. Safety requirementsof theprofessionare regulatedbystatelawandincludedinclassroominstructionasfollows:

1. Adequateventilation;2. Adequatelighting;3. Theuseofsafe,sanitaryandwashablematerials;4. Productuseandhandling;5. Workstationsanitationandsafety6. Sanitaryprecautionsbeforeandafterservicingeachpatron;7. Properuseofallequipment.

COMPLETION/LICENSURE/JOBPLACEMENTRATESTohelpyoumakeawell-informeddecisionaboutenteringthenewcareeryouhavechosen,wewantyoutoknowthataccordingtothelatestinformation:84.31%ofthestudentsscheduledtograduatein2018completedtheprogram.97.50%of thegraduates in2018whotook the licensingexaminationadministeredby thestatepassedtheexamination.76.19%ofthegraduatesin2018havefoundjobsrelatedtotheirfield.

Thepoliciesandproceduresof JenksBeautyCollegehave been formulated and adopted to assure the student of comprehensive recognition andservices from accreditation agencies, the Department of Education, employers, and funding

The School reserves the right to evaluate High School diploma(s) presented by thestudent.Theschoolmay,atanytime,requestacopyofahighschool transcript tovalidatetheHighSchooldiploma.Allstudentsarerequiredtohaveaninterviewwithadmissions.Anapplicationforadmissionmustbecompletedandacceptedpriortostartingclass.Theschoolrequiresofstudents:

(1)GovernmentissuedIDorGovernmentissuedpassport(2)Highschoolgraduationdocumentation:i.Highschooldiplomaii.Highschoolgraduationequivalencycertificate.

iii.Haveevidenceofcompletionofhomeschooling.(3)Inthecaseofaforeigndiploma,verificationbyanoutsideagencythatisqualifiedto

translate the document into English and confirm the academic equivalence to ahighschooldiploma.

Anythingoutsidethislistwillbeconsideredonacasebycasebasis.

EnglishLanguageProficiencyAllapplicantsmustbeproficient inEnglish (reading,writing,andspeaking).This requirement ismetbyoneofthefollowing:

(1) Transcriptindicating“C”orhigherinacollege-levelwriting/compositioncoursefromanationallyorregionallyaccreditedU.S.college,or

(2) graduatingfromahighschoolwheretheprimarylanguageofinstructionisEnglish.

ThoseforwhomEnglishisasecondlanguagemustprovideproofofEnglishproficiencybymeetingthefollowingstandardsofTOEFL(TestofEnglishasaForeignLanguage)examplesasfollows:

(1) 450oraboveonthepaper-basedtest,or(2) 173oraboveonthecomputer-basedtest,or(3) 61oraboveontheinternet-basedtest,or(4) 6orabovefortheIELTS(InternationalEnglishLanguageTestingSystem

AdditionalDocumentationforInstructorCourse:(1) Must have successfully completed and passed the Oklahoma State Board of

CosmetologyBasicExamandbefullylicensedincosmetology.ALLSTUDENTSMUSTATTENDORIENTATIONCLASSPRIORTOSTARTINGCOURSE.

ABILITY-TO-BENEFITPOLICYJenksBeautyCollegedoesnotacceptATB(AbilitytoBenefit)students.Enrolleesarerequiredtohavenolessthanahighschooldiploma,oraG.E.D.

TRANSFERPOLICYTheSchooldoesnotrecruitstudentsalreadyattendingoradmittedtoanotherschoolofferingasimilarprogramofstudy.ReferenceOklahomaStateBoardRules&Regulations:Astudentwillnotbeallowedtotransferfromonecosmetologyschooltoanotherforaperiodofatleastthirty(30)daysfromthedateofwithdrawal or other termination unless a notarized release agreement signed by official oftransferringschool is receivedby theStateBoard. Astudentmay transferout-of-statestudenthours provided the student submits the necessary proof of training to the State Board forevaluation. TheSchoolwillevaluateprevious trainingoreducationas longasapprovedby theStateBoard.REENTRYSTUDENTS/INTERRUPTIONSAdeterminationofSatisfactoryProgresswillbemadeanddocumentedatthetimeofwithdrawalor beginning of a Leave of Absence. That determination of Satisfactory Progresswill apply tostudentsatthetimetheyreturntoschool.ElapsedtimeduringaLeaveofAbsencedoesnotaffectSatisfactory Progress and will extend the contract period by the same number of days in theLeave.WITHDRAWALPOLICYStudents wishing to terminate their enrollment must submit a written statement to theadmissionsofficedesignatingtheirdateofwithdrawal.Ifastudentmissesthirty(30)consecutivedayswithoutnotice to the schoolof their intenthe/shewill beautomatically terminated. ATTENDANCECLASSATTENDANCEStudentsareexpectedtoattendallclassesaccordingtotheirassignedschedule.Classattendanceistheresponsibilityofthestudent.Itisalsotheresponsibilityofthestudenttoconsultwiththeinstructorwhenanabsenceisanticipated.ABSENCEPOLICYInthecaseofanunplannedabsence(inthecaseofillness)thestudentmustnotifytheinstructorpriortothestartofclassthathe/sheisillandwillnotbeinclassthatday.Absencescanonlybeexcusedwithvaliddocumentation(doctor’snotes,funeralnotice,etc.).Studentsareencouragedtomakeuphoursbyattendingoutsideoftheirscheduledhours.Makeuptimesmustbeapprovedbytheinstructor.Studentsreceivingbenefitsfromgovernmentagenciesmustadheretopoliciesstipulated by the specific agency. TARDINESSPOLICYStudentsmustarriveforclassesontime. Anystudentnotpresentatthestartofthescheduledclasswillbeconsideredtardy.Studentsareexpectedtonotifytheirinstructoriftheyarelate.LEAVEOFABSENCEPOLICYALeaveofAbsence(LOA)isatemporaryinterruptioninastudent’sprogramofstudy.SomeexamplesofapprovedreasonsforaLOAincludebutarenotlimitedto:

• Childbirth • Unexpectedmajorillnessofstudentorimmediatefamilymember • Accidentthatrequiresarecoveryperiod

LOA’sarenotgrantedforvacationsorbecausethestudentfeelsliketheywanttotakeabreak.InorderforaLOAtoqualifyasanapprovedleaveofabsencethestudentmustfollowtheinstitution’spolicyinrequestingtheLOA.Thepolicyisasfollows:

• ThestudentmustrequesttheLOAinadvanceandinwriting. • TheLOAmustincludethereasonfortheLOA. • TheLOAformmustbesignedanddatedbythestudentanddirectorofeducation. • TheremustbeareasonableexpectationthatthestudentwillreturnfromtheLOA. • AreturndatemustbelistedontheLOAform. • IfunforeseencircumstancespreventthestudentfromrequestingtheLOAinadvance,in

writingtheschoolmaygrantthestudentaleaveofabsenceafterthefactattheDirectorofFinancialAid’sdiscretion.ThebeginningdateoftheapprovedLOAwouldbethefirstdatethestudentwasunabletoattendtheschoolduetounforeseencircumstances.Forexample,ifthestudentwereinjuredinacaraccidentandneededafewweekstorecoverbeforereturningtotheschool,thestudentwouldnothavebeenabletorequesttheLOAinadvance.

Thingsthestudentneedstoknow:

• AstudentgrantedaLOAthatmeetstheabovecriteriaisnotconsideredtohavewithdrawn,andnorefundcalculationisdueatthistime.

MAKE-UPWORKPOLICYItisthestudent’sresponsibilitytogetmissedassignmentsfromtheinstructor,make-uptestsandsetatimewithinstructorformake-upexams,writtenandpractical.INDEPENDENTSTUDYJenksBeautyCollegemayutilizeIndependentStudy,oronlineclassesforanyofourprogramsifapprovedfortemporaryuseforemergencies.

BASICSTANDARDFORSTUDENTCONDUCT

TheschoolsetsforthspecificStandardsofConductforthepurposeofpromotingapositivelearningenvironmentandapathwaytocareersuccess.Developingefficientworkhabits,apositiveattitudeanddefinitegoalorientationduringtrainingcanonlyenhancethegraduate’spotentialforsuccess.Studentsmayreceiveanadvisingformforanyconductnotdeemedappropriateorfornotadheringtoanystandardofconduct.BEHAVIORAllstudentsmust:

• Acomplaintmuststatethebasisforanyallegationsofnoncompliance.• Acomplaintallegingthattheschoolisinnoncomplianceshallcontainallrelevantnames

EVALUATIONPERIODSStudentsareevaluatedforSatisfactoryAcademicProgressasfollows:Cosmetology 450,900and1200clocked(actual)hoursInstructor 450and900clocked(actual)hoursEsthetics&Manicuring 300and600clocked(actual)hoursTransfer Students – Midpoint of the contracted hours or the established evaluation periods,whichevercomesfirst.Evaluations will determine if the student has met the minimum requirements for satisfactoryacademic progress. The frequency of evaluations ensures that students have had at least oneevaluationbymidpointinthecourse.ATTENDANCEPROGRESSEVALUATIONSStudentsarerequiredtoattendaminimumof67%ofthehourspossiblebasedontheapplicableattendance schedule per their program in order to be considered maintaining satisfactoryattendance progress. Evaluations are conducted at the end of each evaluation period todetermine if the student has met the minimum requirements. Students receivingVeteranseducationbenefitsmustmeetsatisfactoryacademicprogress (SAP)and attendance requirements in accordance with the school’s SAP and Attendance policies inordertoremaineligibletobecertifiedforVAbenefits.VAstudentsonacademicwarningaren’tconsideredtobemaintainingsatisfactoryprogressandwillcontinuetobecertifiedforeducationbenefitsforoneperiodwiththeU.S.DepartmentofVeteransAffairs(VA),however,theVAwillbenotifiedifwarningoccurs.Ifstudentsfailtomeetacademicrequirementswhileonwarning,theirenrollmentcertificationwillbeterminatedwhichmayresult inVArequiringstudentstorepayaportionorallbenefitsreceived.OncebenefitsareterminatedduetoSAPorattendance,studentsareineligibletobecertifiedforVAeducationbenefitsuntilSAPisonceagainmetor ifstudentssuccessfullyappealthedecisionforreadmission.ACADEMICPROGRESSEVALUATIONSAqualitativeelementusedtodetermineacademicprogress isareasonablesystemofgradesasdetermined by assigned academic learning. Students not maintaining SAP will receive a hard copy of their at the time ofevaluations. Students deemed notmaintaining Satisfactory Academic Progressmay have theirTitle IV Funding interrupted, unless the student is on warning or has prevailed upon appealresultinginastatusofprobation.WARNINGStudents who fail to meet minimum requirements for attendance or academic progress areplacedonwarningandconsideredtobemakingSAPduringthewarningperiod.ThestudentwillbeadvisedinwritingontheactionsrequiredtoattainSAPbythenextevaluation.Ifattheendofthe warning period, the student has still not met both the attendance and academicrequirements,he/shewillbeplacedonsuspension.SUSPENSIONStudentswhofailtomeetminimumrequirementsforattendanceofacademicprogressafterthewarning period will be placed on suspension resulting in the loss of Title IV and VA funding.Student will need to set up a payment plan in order to continue their program. RE-ESTABLISHMENTOFSATISFACTORYACADEMICPROGRESSStudents may re-establish satisfactory academic progress and Title IV aid, as applicable, bymeeting minimum attendance and academic requirements by the end of the warning orsuspensionperiod.APPEALPROCEDUREIfastudentisdeterminedtonotbemakingSAP,thestudentmayappealthedeterminationduespecial or mitigating circumstances. The Appeal must be in writing to the President within 14calendar days special ormitigating circumstances, alongwith supporting documentationof thereasonswhy the determination should be reversed. This information should includewhat haschanged about the student’s situation that will allow them to achieve Satisfactory AcademicProgressbythenextevaluationpoint.Appealdocumentswillberetainedinthestudentfile.Ifthe student prevails upon appeal, the satisfactory academic progress determination will bereversedandfederalfinancialaidwillbereinstated,ifapplicableforonepaymentperiod.Appealresponseswillbecompletedwithin14daysofreceipt.ThePresident'sdecisionisfinal.INTERRUPTIONS,COURSEINCOMPLETES,WITHDRAWALSIfenrollmentistemporarilyinterruptedforaLeaveofAbsence,thestudentwillreturntoschoolin the sameprogress status as prior to the leaveof absence. Hours elapsedduring a leaveofabsencewillextendthestudent’scontractperiodandmaximumtimeframebythesamenumberof days taken in the leave of absence and will not be included in the student’s cumulativeattendancepercentagecalculation.Studentswhowithdrawpriortocompletionofthecourseandwishtore-enrollwill return in thesamesatisfactoryacademicprogressstatusasat thetimeofwithdrawal.NONCREDIT,REMEDIAL,COURSES,REPETITIONSNoncredit, remedial courses, and repetitions do not apply to this institution. Therefore, theseitemshavenoeffectupontheschool’ssatisfactoryacademicprogressstandards.TRANSFERHOURSWithregardtoSatisfactoryAcademicProgress,astudent’stransferhourswillbecountedasbothattemptedandearnedhoursforthepurposeofdeterminingwhentheallowablemaximumtimeframehasbeenexhausted. SAPevaluationperiodsarebasedonactualcontractedhoursattheinstitution.VeteransPriorCreditStudents utilizing VA education benefits must provide all transcripts and records of previouseducation and training. Jenks Beauty College will evaluate these records and, when possible,grant appropriate credit for the previous education and/or training, shorten the length of thetraining program, and notify the student regarding the amount of credit being granted forprevioustraining.
