The National Geographic Society is a leading nonprofit that invests in bold people and transformative ideas in the fields of exploration, scientific research, storytelling, and education. We support educators to ensure that the next generation is armed with geographic knowledge and global understanding. We aspire to create a community of change, advancing key insights about our planet and probing some of the most pressing scientific questions of our time. Our goal is measurable impact: furthering exploration and educating people around the world to inspire solutions for the greater good.

For 130 years, we have been documenting our extraordinary planet and all that is in it. We bring these stories of adventure, world cultures, and wild places to life in exhibitions, live events, and experiences that are designed to be shared with audiences of all ages. We partner with museums, science centers, schools, libraries, universities, galleries, zoos, and aquariums all over the world on projects that are always relevant, interesting, and current. All of our experiences come with an array of video, digital resources, and educational content. They all

feature incredibly interesting and innovative people, as well; people who inspire us to learn more about our past and think in new ways for our future.

We hope you will enjoy looking at the latest in our traveling exhibition offerings, and please visit us when you are in DC at the National Geographic Museum.

This exhibition will transport visitors behind the lens of some of National Geographic’s most engaging images. From STEVE MCCURRY s unforgettable Afghan girl to MICHAEL “NICK” NICHOLS’s iconic photograph of Jane Goodall and a chimpanzee, the exhibition features 50 of the magazine’s most celebrated photographs from its 130 year history. In addition to seeing the photographs as they appeared in the magazine, exhibition visitors will learn the stories behind the photos, and more about the photographers themselves. For some photographs, visitors will be able to see the near frames taken by the photographer: the sequence of images made in the field before and after the perfect shot.

For the last decade, some of the most powerful stories have been produced by a new genera-tion of 11 female photojournalists. These wom-en share a commitment to storytelling that has come to define National Geographic. From the last great wilderness of Africa to the tumult of the ersey shore, these explorers have captured compelling stories of our planet and its people.

National Geographic Society is building its network of global part-nerships. We are very interested in strategic alliances with museums, galleries, and universities to bring a consistent line up of exhibitions every few months. This business model encourages collaboration and shared vision for new projects, as well as competitive pricing. We will be consulting these partners first when developing new exhibition ideas and, in some cases, we will create custom exhibitions based on our partners needs.
