Camp Briarwood was established in 1964 by Briarwood Presbyterian Church as a Christian camp for boys and girls. The camp is led by Quest Recreation Outreach, a sports and recreation ministry with a global reach under the supervision of Briarwood Presbyterian Church.
Each session of camp is designed to offer summer adventures your child will never forget. Camp provides an ideal atmosphere where the physical and the spiritual blend together. Bible discussions, stories, songs and vesper services help children grow in their relationships with God and others.

Registration closes for each session when it fills up. Campers’ registrations received after a session is full will be put on a waiting list. Popular sessions often fill up in the first 3 weeks after registration begins.
TO SECURE A SPOT, we must receive: • A registration card with both sides completed, for each camper.• A non-refundable deposit for each camper: Day Camp – $50, Overnight Camp – $100• Full registration fees will not be refunded after May 14, 2018• Online payment and registration now available at www.campbriarwood.org!
TO KEEP YOUR SPOT, we must receive the balance of your camp fee by June 5. On June 6 we may fill the spots of unpaid campers with those on the waiting lists.
Some scholarships may be available and are awarded based on need. Please contact the camp office for an application. Scholarship applications are due April 29.

WHAT TO WEAR/BRING TO CAMP: (Please label everything)
Day Camp: Shorts, t-shirt, socks, closed-toe shoes (lace-up or Velcro), swimsuit & towel in waterproof bag (each day of camp). Thurs. Overnight: Sleeping bag, pillow, toothbrush, toothpaste, and pajamas. **No sports or fishing gear needed.
Overnight Camp: Long pants (for hiking and horseback riding), shorts, shirts, swimsuit (no bikinis), 2 pairs of shoes (one pair of closed-toe shoes), jacket, pajamas, underwear (for each day), robe, towels (bath & beach), blanket, 2 sheets OR sleeping bag, pillow, washcloth, toothbrush, toothpaste, flashlight, comb, soap, Bible, notebook, pencil, stamps, stationery, and hair dryer. DAY CAMP:
OVERNIGHT CAMP:
LOCATION: Day Camp is held at YMCA Camp Hargis, located approximately 15 miles from Briarwood Presbyterian Church. Camp will be held from 8:30 a.m until 3:15 p.m. each day. Lunch is provided each day at Hargis.
ACTIVITIES: Each session includes hiking, swimming, arts and crafts, canoeing, B.B. guns and archery. Bible stories and songs help children grow in their relationships with each other and with God. Lunches and snacks are provided each day.
COUNSELORS: A ratio of approximately 6 campers to each counselor ensures that each child will receive personal attention. Counselors receive training in all aspects of camp.
CHECK-IN: Each session runs from Monday through Friday. Campers and a guardian should arrive at Briarwood’s church Fellowship Hall on Monday at 8:00 a.m. for check-in and information. Tuesday–Friday campers should arrive at 8:30 a.m.
CHECK-OUT: Check out takes place each day at 3:15 p.m. from the Briarwood Presbyterian Church gym. Anyone picking up a camper must be approved by the camper’s guardian in writing, and be ready to show a current driver’s license.
THURSDAY SPEND-THE-NIGHT: Some sessions offer the option to spend the night on Thursday. These will be held at Briarwood Presbyterian Church and will include a night full of activities, games, movies, music, worship and more–even some sleep! A pizza party supper Thursday night and Friday morning breakfast of juice, milk, cereal and pastries are included. Campers should bring a sleeping bag, tooth brush, pillow, etc.
PARENTS MEETING: A Parents Meeting will be held Tuesday, June 5 from 5:30–6:30 p.m. in the Chapel at Briarwood Presbyterian Church.
Special Connections Camp is a Christian camp for boys and girls with mild to moderate disabilities. Camp Briarwood partners with the Special Connections ministry, a community outreach to families touched by disability. For more info, call 776-5291.
ACTIVITIES: Each special camper participates with typically-developing campers in the full range of camp activities.
COUNSELORS: Each camper is assigned his/her own counselor for the week. The counselors are able to attend to the campers’ specific needs and provide support in order for the camper to participate with a typical camp group. Counselors are trained to understand the specific needs of each camper. Strong emphasis is placed on camper safety and each counselor is trained in safety techniques.
DETAILS: There are Day Camp and Overnight Camp sessions available for campers with special needs during select weeks. The camp rates, schedules, check-in/check-out procedures, activities and attire are the same for campers with special needs as for typical campers. Please refer to the other pages of this brochure for this information.

LOCATION: Overnight Camp is held at YMCA Camp Chandler, located on Lake Jordan near Wetumpka, AL. Covering 475 acres, Camp Chandler is the perfect setting for a week of fun and growth.
ACTIVITIES: Overnight Camp offers activities such as canoeing, sailing, skiing, riflery, archery, arts and crafts, horseback riding, and a high ropes course that thrills every participant. Certain activities are available for specific age groups.
CHECK-IN: Each camper and a guardian should arrive at Briarwood’s Fellowship Hall no later than 8:30 a.m. on the first day of camp. Transportation to Camp Chandler is provided. $15.00 cash will be collected from each camper attending Sessions A, B & D at check-in for daily canteen. $10.00 cash will be collected for campers attending Session C.
CHECK-OUT: Parents should pick up their children from Camp Chandler no later than 10:00 a.m. on the last day of the camp session. We encourage parents, however, to attend the closing ceremony at 9:00 a.m. Directions to Camp Chandler can be downloaded from our website: www.campbriarwood.org.
MINI-WEEK SESSION FOR 3RD AND 4TH GRADES (SESSION B): This will be a Wednesday–Saturday session and will include all the activities of a full week, but at a lower cost! Campers should arrive at Briarwood Presbyterian Church no later than 8:30 a.m. Wednesday for check-in. Closing ceremonies will be at Camp Chandler on Saturday at 9:00 a.m.

LOCATION: Overnight Camp is held at YMCA Camp Chandler, located on Lake Jordan near Wetumpka, AL. Covering 475 acres, Camp Chandler is the perfect setting for a week of fun and growth.
ACTIVITIES: Overnight Camp offers activities such as canoeing, sailing, skiing, riflery, archery, arts and crafts, horseback riding, and a high ropes course that thrills every participant. Certain activities are available for specific age groups.
CHECK-IN: Each camper and a guardian should arrive at Briarwood’s Fellowship Hall no later than 8:30 a.m. on the first day of camp. Transportation to Camp Chandler is provided. $15.00 cash will be collected from each camper attending Sessions A, B & D at check-in for daily canteen. $10.00 cash will be collected for campers attending Session C.
CHECK-OUT: Parents should pick up their children from Camp Chandler no later than 10:00 a.m. on the last day of the camp session. We encourage parents, however, to attend the closing ceremony at 9:00 a.m. Directions to Camp Chandler can be downloaded from our website: www.campbriarwood.org.
MINI-WEEK SESSION FOR 3RD AND 4TH GRADES (SESSION B): This will be a Wednesday–Saturday session and will include all the activities of a full week, but at a lower cost! Campers should arrive at Briarwood Presbyterian Church no later than 8:30 a.m. Wednesday for check-in. Closing ceremonies will be at Camp Chandler on Saturday at 9:00 a.m.
PARENTS MEETING: A Parents Meeting will be held Tuesday, June 5 from 7:00–8:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Briarwood Presbyterian Church.
Registration closes for each session when it fills up. Campers’ registrations received after a session is full will be put on a waiting list. Popular sessions often fill up in the first 3 weeks after registration begins.
TO SECURE A SPOT, we must receive: • A registration card with both sides completed, for each camper.• A non-refundable deposit for each camper: Day Camp – $50, Overnight Camp – $100• Full registration fees will not be refunded after May 14, 2018• Online payment and registration now available at www.campbriarwood.org!
TO KEEP YOUR SPOT, we must receive the balance of your camp fee by June 5. On June 6 we may fill the spots of unpaid campers with those on the waiting lists.
Some scholarships may be available and are awarded based on need. Please contact the camp office for an application. Scholarship applications are due April 29.

WHAT TO WEAR/BRING TO CAMP: (Please label everything)
Day Camp: Shorts, t-shirt, socks, closed-toe shoes (lace-up or Velcro), swimsuit & towel in waterproof bag (each day of camp). Thurs. Overnight: Sleeping bag, pillow, toothbrush, toothpaste, and pajamas. **No sports or fishing gear needed.
Overnight Camp: Long pants (for hiking and horseback riding), shorts, shirts, swimsuit (no bikinis), 2 pairs of shoes (one pair of closed-toe shoes), jacket, pajamas, underwear (for each day), robe, towels (bath & beach), blanket, 2 sheets OR sleeping bag, pillow, washcloth, toothbrush, toothpaste, flashlight, comb, soap, Bible, notebook, pencil, stamps, stationery, and hair dryer. DAY CAMP:
OVERNIGHT CAMP:
LOCATION: Day Camp is held at YMCA Camp Hargis, located approximately 15 miles from Briarwood Presbyterian Church. Camp will be held from 8:30 a.m until 3:15 p.m. each day. Lunch is provided each day at Hargis.
ACTIVITIES: Each session includes hiking, swimming, arts and crafts, canoeing, B.B. guns and archery. Bible stories and songs help children grow in their relationships with each other and with God. Lunches and snacks are provided each day.
COUNSELORS: A ratio of approximately 6 campers to each counselor ensures that each child will receive personal attention. Counselors receive training in all aspects of camp.
CHECK-IN: Each session runs from Monday through Friday. Campers and a guardian should arrive at Briarwood’s church Fellowship Hall on Monday at 8:00 a.m. for check-in and information. Tuesday–Friday campers should arrive at 8:30 a.m.
CHECK-OUT: Check out takes place each day at 3:15 p.m. from the Briarwood Presbyterian Church gym. Anyone picking up a camper must be approved by the camper’s guardian in writing, and be ready to show a current driver’s license.
THURSDAY SPEND-THE-NIGHT: Some sessions offer the option to spend the night on Thursday. These will be held at Briarwood Presbyterian Church and will include a night full of activities, games, movies, music, worship and more–even some sleep! A pizza party supper Thursday night and Friday morning breakfast of juice, milk, cereal and pastries are included. Campers should bring a sleeping bag, tooth brush, pillow, etc.
PARENTS MEETING: A Parents Meeting will be held Tuesday, June 5 from 5:30–6:30 p.m. in the Chapel at Briarwood Presbyterian Church.
Special Connections Camp is a Christian camp for boys and girls with mild to moderate disabilities. Camp Briarwood partners with the Special Connections ministry, a community outreach to families touched by disability. For more info, call 776-5291.
ACTIVITIES: Each special camper participates with typically-developing campers in the full range of camp activities.
COUNSELORS: Each camper is assigned his/her own counselor for the week. The counselors are able to attend to the campers’ specific needs and provide support in order for the camper to participate with a typical camp group. Counselors are trained to understand the specific needs of each camper. Strong emphasis is placed on camper safety and each counselor is trained in safety techniques.
DETAILS: There are Day Camp and Overnight Camp sessions available for campers with special needs during select weeks. The camp rates, schedules, check-in/check-out procedures, activities and attire are the same for campers with special needs as for typical campers. Please refer to the other pages of this brochure for this information.
REGISTRATION PROCESS: Upon receipt of your registration form and deposit, Special Connections staff will contact you to discuss your camper’s specific needs, which sessions are available and to answer your questions. Confirmation of your camper’s placement in a session will only be made after contact with the Special Connections staff. C
