Enam Medical College was established in the year 2003 with the dream and theme to serve the humanity within the framework of healthcare policy of the government. It tells us a story of becoming a giant oak from a tiny seed. The journey of becoming an ideal model for a medical college in the country was not very smooth. Hard work of the teachers and staffs, affection and care for the students, strict maintenance of rules and securing the safety in all aspects from the very beginning made it possible to achieve an extraordinary academic environment.
This medical institution has an excellent teaching staff groomed with the combination of experienced staffs and the youth which works as a powerful resource to run the academic sector. Teachers in each department work hard to prepare every student as a world class doctor of the future. A library with adequate collection of books and facilities of the life internet provide the students with the scope to keep them up to date with the modern world of sciences. There are six well furnished, air-conditioned lecture galleries with every needed facility. An auditorium with the capacity of 1000 audience is available for various academic seminars, symposiums and cultural programs.
The patients should be considered as the most effective books in the journey of making a clinically competent physician. A self-sufficient hospital with 1000 beds allows the students to learn practically with the facilities and access to the patients. The students build themselves as a dynamic clinician by dealing with different types of patients in this multidisciplinary tertiary care hospital. They also get the opportunity to develop themselves as an internationally competent physician by the top graded ICU, NICU, Neuro-ICU and CCU facilities of this hospital. The recently built Enam Cancer Center within the college premises is a wonder in this part of the world.
For the purpose of development of extracurricular activities and the creative traits of the students there are six active clubs. These clubs had been crowned with glory and praised in various national events. Picnics, religious and cultural programs bring the teachers and the students closer with building stronger bonds and the colorful festivity among them.
The voyage with the aim of building an enriched medical institution of Bangladesh with skilled and worthy physicians is advancing with a great reputation. We are grateful to the Almighty Allah.

One of the great tragedies fell upon in the history of Bangladesh on the 24th April 2013 at Savar Dhaka. The 8th storied Rana Plaza building Collapsed at about 9 AM killing more than 1100 and injuring thousands of people. Many of them were very critically injured and required ICU life support and many others had to go for limb amputations. These types of victims were rushing like flood water in the morning of 24th April 2013 Wednesday and kept continuing for weeks.
The classes' periodicals, term and class exams were all immediately suspended. All teachers and students were asked to rush to the emergency, outdoor, hospital wards and operation theater. All doctors and staffs staying outside were called in to tackle the situation.
All the patients were accommodated in the nearly 1000 bed hospital of Enam Medical College. Very effective care and treatment were given to all patients without any delay. The medicine store were open free to meet the demand. The teachers, students and staff started donating blood as soon as the news of the accident came to the hospital. Within very short time all patients were given the required management like cleaning, bandaging, infusion of saline and blood if required. Critical patients with fractures were sent to operation theatre for surgical management. Very critical and serious patients were placed at Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with life support.
Clinical students were working with doctors and preclinical students kept themselves busy in bringing new patients, carrying the stretchers, pushing trolleys and guiding the patients and their relatives to the hospital wards. Many others including the female students were carrying the dead bodies to the morgue. It was an awesome and tragic scenery all over the hospital with the agony of the patients and accompanying people.
It was really an emergency situation required all-out effort to tackle. Our chairman Dr. Md. Enamur Rahman is a man of great heart and asked everybody to do their best to save the human lives in such a critical condition.
Subsequently the honorable minister for Health and Family Welfare Prof. Dr. Md. Ruhal Haque along with Health secretary, Director General of Health services and local civil surgeon visited and expressed their satisfaction and highly appreciated the role played by the Chairman, Principal, Directors, teachers, students and staffs of Enam Medical College & Hospital.
Enam Medical College & Hospital was the well-equipped tertiary care hospital nearby with sufficient beds, specialists and staffs. Later on in the next days and weeks many government ministers, high officials, dignitaries and national leaders came to Enam Medical College and expressed their sympathy for the victims. Everybody appreciated the role of Enam Medical College and Hospital.
We express our gratitude to Almighty Allah that everybody associated with Enam Medical College spontaneously rose to the occasion to meet the demand of the situation.
