09:30 SESSION ONE: sustainable mobility
This session will consider how aviation, connectivity and mobility help to build social development. The improved connectivity provided by air transport can further enhance economic performance, reduce inequalities throughout the world thanks to passenger traffic and trade links and provide remote communities with access to vital goods and services. The aim of the UN Sustainable Development Goals is to improve the lives of people in ways other than financial prosperity. Mobility is also top of the UN’s agenda, with the Sustainable Mobility for All initiative being championed by the World Bank and numerous multilateral agencies. What role can aviation play in this context?

As European countries consider legislation banning single-use plastics, and similar waste-related regulations are being discussed in other parts of the world, this panel will look at how aviation, with its particular challenges, can respond to the questions of food hygiene, recyclability, international waste legislation and weight. What solutions already exist?
