The Cayman Islands Public Library Service is committed to providing all children with opportunities to strengthen reading fluency, literacy and comprehension skills. We also seek to develop a community of lifelong learners that enjoy reading a wide range of quality literature for pleasure. We are especially excited about this year ’s reading topic. Reading about adventurers and explorers help to stimulate a child ’s imagination and sense of curiosity as they explore realms of wonder and possibility. We hope you enjoy Summer Reading Challenge 2018!

This year ’s challenge is the exciting theme of adventurers and explorers. There are so many incredible books within this genre, from Gulliver ’s Travels to The Adventures of Tom Sawyer to inspire the imaginations of our young readers. They can explore the awesome possibilities within in the worlds of fantasy, space, land, sea and air. Hopefully readers will want to turn their imagination into reality by reaching as high as possible and enjoying the adventures life gives them. Adventurers and explorers are important role models that help us understand how to overcome personal and physical challenges that we may face. This summer is a great opportunity to explore the wonders of the world through the potential of reading!
