Kawasaki's compact MULE models are equipped with everything they need to get the job done. Japanese durability ensures these models are built tough. Revamped in 2017, the new MULE SX models feature the rugged styling of the PRO Series models, giving them a strong MULE family resemblance. A number of other PRO Series inspired features increase convenience.

Simple, Reliable Engine H The MULE SX 2x4 is powered by a 401cc, 4-stroke, OHV, air-cooled engine. Compact, lightweight and durable, the engine is extremely reliable.

Overhead valves designed for efficient running and good Hfuel economy are durable and operate quietly.

Highly efficient carburettor delivers excellent fuel economy.H The engine’s air supply enters the air cleaner box via a H

snorkel intake routed through the tubing of the overhead frame, ensuring the engine is provided with a steady supply of clean air, even in dusty operating conditions.

Engine can be started in gear if the brake pedal is Hdepressed.

Crankcase breathers fitted to route blow-by back to the Hintake pipe for cleaner exhaust emissions.

Vehicle speed restricted to 40 km/h (25 mph).H

Transmission

H�Belt-driven automatic transmission.

H Die-cast aluminium belt converter has high silicon content for compact size and light weight, while also offering excellent toughness and durability.

Rear differential lock allows rear wheels to be locked for maximum traction in mud or snow. HGround disturbance is minimised when unlocked.

Torque converter air cleaner with easily replaceable filter element reduces torque converter wear by Hcooling it with filtered air taken in through the overhead frame (as per the engine intake).

Rugged Chassis

H�Highly durable ladder-type tubular steel frame designed for an ideal blend of rigidity and ride comfort.

H After undergoing extensive stiffness balance testing, the frame offers a good balance between lateral and torsional stiffness. This delivers high durability while allowing just the right amount of chassis flex to be able to handle the shocks of off-road riding, ensuring a high level of ride comfort. H Independent MacPherson strut-type front suspension allows each wheel to track over uneven ground for maximum traction with light steering effort. Minimal wheel camber change throughout the suspension stroke contributes to stable handling.

Unit swingarm rear suspension design places engine and rear wheels on a sub-frame with a mid pivot Hpoint. Isolates vibration.

Ackerman rack-and-pinion steering provides precise, easy handling, and a tight turning radius while Hreducing tyre wear.

4-wheel, self adjusting, hydraulic brakes. Reliable, hard wearing and powerful.H Front and rear brake drum seals are triple-lipped for water and mud resistance.H

Cargo Bed & Towing Capacity

H�Cargo bed dimensions are 905 x 1,040 x 245 mm. Its square, flat design makes it easy to load from three sides.

H�Cargo bed load capacity is 181 kg.

H The cargo bed's flat bottom helps make an efficient use of space, and also facilitates securing items being carried. The bed is highly durable, made of 1.52 mm diamond-plate steel.

H�Special texture black paint used in the cargo bed is highly stain- and scratch-resistant, contributing to both looks and durability. The "grip" offered by the textured surface also helps to keep cargo from sliding around.

H�Tilting cargo bed facilitates accessing the engine.

H�Cargo bed features a two-lever tailgate release system for easy opening and closing.

H�1" square pipes running along the top of the cargo bed side walls provide easy tie-down points for bungee hooks, and are compatible with the optional KQR accessory mounts (brackets that allow a toolbox or other items to be snap-mounted to the cargo bed rails).

H�Trailer hitch offers a 500 kg towing capacity.

H�Optional winch mount accommodates a number of after-market Warn winches.

TOUGH, RUGGED STYLING

Designed to reflect their tough construction and capable performance, the MULE SX models feature new styling inspired by the rugged, no-nonsense design of the MULE PRO Series flagship models.

Large-Volume Bodywork

H�Pickup truck style front hood, front grill and headlamp design modelled after the PRO Series MULE flagship models give the MULE SX models a tougher, rugged image like their bigger brethren.

H�Compact headlamps (the same round units used on Kawasaki's Teryx and Teryx4 models) contribute to the no-nonsense styling.

H�Beefy all-steel front bumper is a standard feature, offering protection to the front of the vehicle and contributing to the MULE SX's tough, rugged image. Its position close to the body gives it a highly integrated look.

H�Large fender flares and mud flaps contribute to the voluminous design while helping to keep mud and rocks from hitting the bodywork. Like the PRO Series models, the cab separator features a bar-type design.

H�TPO (thermoplastic olefin) body panels resist scuffing and dents. Colour is moulded in.

Automotive Dashboard Design

Automotive-style dashboard designed based on that of the PRO Series models puts all controls within easy reach of the driver.

H Thick-grip steering wheel is the same one used on the PRO Series models.

H Digital fuel gauge and hour meter are built into the dashboard for easy reference.

H PRO Series style headlamp switch(es) are positioned just to the right of the driver. Blank spots allow switches for accessories to be seamlessly integrated into the dash.

H Pre-cut space in the dash console prepared for an accessory audio system.

COMFORT & CONVENIENCE

Complementing the MULE SX's capable outdoor performance and Kawasaki's famous durability, these models also offer a number of comfort and convenience features to help make a day of work or nature exploration go more smoothly.

Increased Comfort

H Idealised front and rear suspension settings offer the following benefits: - increased stability - improved suspension action, contributing to off-road bump absorption and ground following, as well as increased ride comfort - improved handling response, facilitating control

H Increased preload for the front suspension results in a flatter front-rear balance (compared to the slightly front-leaning attitude of the previous models); softer rear settings offer increased ride comfort in the MULE SX's most commonly encountered riding situations.

H�Seat material has superb elasticity, offering increased comfort and holding performance. The material is also resistant to cold, allowing it to maintain its suppleness when temperatures drop and reducing the chance of tearing/ ripping when exposed to cold temperatures.

H Shift lever, differential lock lever and headlamp switch are all located within easy reach on the automotive-style dashboard.

H�New retractable seat belts are user-friendly and clutter-free.

H�Sturdy passenger-side grab rail mounted on the cab frame contributes to passenger comfort.

Tilt Steering

H�Steering wheel has a stepless adjustability range of o

approximately 29 , allowing drivers to set its position to suit their preference, as well as lift it out of the way to facilitate getting in and out of the vehicle.

H Thickly cushioned steering wheel (the same as one on the PRO Series models) contributes to comfort as well as the high-quality feel of the MULE SX.

Storage

H�Removable front hood allows quick access to a spacious 60-litre sealed storage area. The hood releases are on the cab side, allowing access from inside the cab.

H�Passenger-side glove box provides enclosed storage for small items.

H�Two drink holders are built into the bodywork in front of the dashboard.

DC Socket

H�A DC socket integrated into the dashboard provides a power supply (up to 120 W) for accessory items or personal devices.
