Abstract: Indeed due to global advancement, rapid technological innovation, and enhancing regional influence, supply chain (SC) has become an essential element. Although Malaysia is known for palm oil and rubber but manufacturing sector has highest growth rate (7.1%) and second contributor to GDP and employer. Due to regional and economic shift toward China and India, this sector is facing numerous problems. Meanwhile, competition has shifted from organization to industry level; any disruption can not only disturb organization but also affect the whole industry. While, extensive literature review is available that shows how to reduce risks and enhance performance but literature on supply chain collaboration (SCC) is scare, SCC has dogged the performance in various industries/sectors in and in various regions of Malaysia but due to the interconnectedness, there is need to consider overall manufacturing. The aim of this study is to explore the potential benefits of supply chain collaboration toward achieving operational performance. This is an empirical investigation conducting among manufacturing industries in Malaysia. Data were collected from 284 members of supply chain that include suppliers, manufacturers and distributors from Federation of Manufacturing Malaysia (FMM 2017). Factor analysis and multiple regressions through SPSS have been used for data analysis. The finding of this study reveals that two supply chain management approaches information sharing (IS), joint decision making (JDM) significantly effect, while Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) does not have a significant effect on operational performance.

Abstract: Hydroxyapatite (HAP), the bone regenerative material is a calcium phosphate based bioceramic and a basic mineral component of teeth and bones of vertebrates. Its chemical and crystallographic features are similar to the inorganic segment of bone. In this paper, the comparative crystallographic and morphological analysis of nanocrystalline HAP extracted from bovine bone by calcination treatment were reported. The characterizations of the extracted HAP were carried out by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM). XRD analysis revealed that extracted HAP has a hexagonal crystal structure and crystallite size was in the range of 7.2-73.1 nm. Crystallinity degree and crystallite size gradually increased with the intensification of calcination temperature from 700-1100 °C. The lattice parameters and unit cell volume of extracted HAP were calculated using the standard least-squares equation and were analogous to reference ICCD (The International Centre for Diffraction Data) data. FESEM observation confirmed the hexagonal rod like structure. However, crystallographic and morphological properties of HAP extracted at different calcination temperatures (700°C, 900°C and 1100°C) are slightly different due to the presence of the important biological ions that are essential for bone growth. It is also revealed that the process of calcination prompts a change of the lattice parameter, resulting in lattice readjustment after the discharge of lattice carbonate and lattice water that cause an increase in crystallinity and crystal size.

Abstract: This study examines the levels of email usage as well as email technology acceptance model among academician in Malaysian universities based on demographic role. This study incorporated Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) as the key research model to understand the relationship of perceived ease of use (PEOU) and perceived usefulness (PU) on email usage (U). A total of 400 questionnaires were distributed with as many as 274 valid responses collected, from academicians that come from two public universities (146 academician) and two private universities (128 academician) in Malaysia. SPSS 23 was used to test the differences in level of

technology acceptance between different demographic factors while using SmartPLS 3.0, which was employed to examine the differences in technology acceptance model between different demographic factors. Research found that younger academicians have higher level of perceived usefulness in regards to email usage compared to their older peers. Further study discovered that academicians with higher position have higher level of perceived ease of use when it comes to the use of email usage compared to those academicians from lower position. Furthermore, results revealed that academicians from metropolitan universities and private universities have significant higher level of PU, PEOU and U as compared to those from non-metropolitan universities and public universities, albeit having achieved a higher level of PU, PEOU and U.

4 004-lgk Behavior of Business Operators on GST Implementation Nur Hazwani Mohamad Roseli1, Ahmad Fadhly Arham1, Nur Hayati Abd Rahman1, Khairunnisa Abd Samad1, Nur Erma Suryani Mohd Jamel1, Mohd Hassan Che Haat2 1Faculty of Business and Management, Universiti Teknologi MARA , Melaka, Malaysia 2Universiti Malaysia Terengganu 21030 Kuala Terengganu Terengganu, Malaysia Abstract: Goods and Services Tax (GST) or Value Added Tax (VAT) is believed to be a reliable tax system because it has been successfully implemented in other countries. However, there is a few compliance issues on the implementation of GST in Malaysia. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the behaviour of the business operators towards GST system. Behavior indicator plays a vital role in the study since it lead to the GST compliance or non-compliance. Qualitative research by interviewing 12 petrol station operators within the context of the theory of reasoned action model were applied. Thematic analysis was used in analyzing the data collected from the interview session. The findings of the study reveals that business operators still comply with the system even though the compliance cost is high. This is because the GST system is one of the government policies thus it is compulsory for them and if not comply, penalty will be imposed. This findings is very crucial in assessing the successfulness of the impelementation of GST in Malaysia. It can act as a benchmark for the government when they want to change back to the previous taxation system, Sales Tax and Services Tax (SST).

Abstract: The roles of firms in driving the economic growth cannot be neglected particularly via their contribution from taxation. However, their performance may be compromised if tax administration is complicated. Instead of boosting the economy, the impacts might turn out to be negative, which create multiplier reaction on the whole economic performance. This

issue is relevant to be assessed since it helps the government to formulate better tax administration and public policies to ensure growth and sustainability in the private sector. Hence, this paper is meant to analyze how tax administration in Malaysia affects firm performance. By using responses from 938 firms generated from The World Bank’s Enterprise Surveys, descriptive statistics, Spearman correlation and cross-tabulation analyses were conducted. It was found that tax administration does not adversely affect firm performance in Malaysia. Instead, firm performance could be impeded due to other major obstacles such as competitors, business licensing and permits as well as high tax rates. The data used in this paper encompassed to three different sizes of firms namely small, medium and large companies. It does not include micro-enterprises or any non-government organizations. For future research, the inclusion of these two types of firms might be needed. Besides, since tax rate is declared as among the main obstacles in conducting business in Malaysia, its role in affecting firms’ performance can also be analyzed.

6 001-lgk -licss Influence of Self-Efficacy as a Mediator on Time Management and Students’ Performance Relationship in Malaysian Online Distance Learning Institutions. Zahir Osman, Wardah Mohamad, Ratna Khuzaimah Mohamad, Liana Mohamad, andTuan Fatma Tuan Sulaiman Cluster of Business Management Open University Malaysia Bangi, Selangor, Malaysia

Abstract: The main purpose of this study is to develop a mediating effect understanding of self-efficacy on time management and students’ performance relationship in Malaysian online distance learning institutions. A model was developed and later tested by adopting the partial Least Square (PLS) procedure on data collected from a survey that yielded 210 usable questionnaires. The findings showed that time management enhanced self-efficacy in Malaysian online distance learning institutions. It was also revealed that self-efficacy partially mediates the relationship between time management and students’ performance. In future, more research needs to be carried out to explore the role of self-efficacy in Malaysian online distance learning institutions. It is important to do the study utilizing experimental design by capturing longitudinal data in Malaysian online distance learning institutions using robust measures. The findings imply that the relationship between self-efficacy and attrition rate may reside in self-efficacy’s influence on students’ performance, and that self-efficacy plays a crucial function within the Malaysian online distance learning institutions. This study uses Smartpls 2.0 and SPSS 18.0 to test the hypothesis and analyze respondents’ profile respectively.

Abstract: Balsa wood (Ochroma pyramidalei) are widely available in Indonesian market especially in the creative industry. Balsa wood was preferred due to its excellent strength to weight ratio in-line with workability and the simplicity of its color and texture. Balsa composite has increased the economic value of balsa wood and widen its use from merely light-weights and non-structural objects to some efficient super-structures. The development of balsa composite into curved structure add another level of design sophistication and widen the variation of its use. Application of this material in a shell structure allowed the structure to have more strength to weight excellence, since the shell structure itself had already had excellent depth to span ratio. The added value of the application in Indonesia is expected to add significant contribution in national agroforestry and construction sector. However, introducing the material into construction industry required further examination, especially related to the stability of supplies (forestry management), manufacture readiness, and human resources. This paper showed a theoretical and statistical feasibility study of manufacture-scale business establishment in Indonesia.
