2018 CHAMBER LIGHTS The Holidays are getting closer and will be here before you know it.

Our Chamber Ambassador Committee is promoting the Annual “Chamber Lights” Decorating Contest.

The Decorating Contest is open to all Chamber members and is split into the following categories:

• Retail Business • Service Business • Hotel/Motel

• Restaurant • Residential (Outdoor Only)

You can be judged on your outdoor or indoor decorations!

There are so many amazing fall deals and specials as well as events going on this November! Please be sure to contact our E-Marketing Manager Jill@oceancity.org with all of your holiday specials, so she can include them in our weekly e-blast. You may also log into your online account a click the “hot deals” tab to include deals that will show up on the chamber website! Also, there is still time to display your business in the “Holiday Happenings Guide”, which will be distributed from Thanksgiving through New Year’s Day at various locations throughout town. This will also be where all of our Chamber Lights participants are listed. Last year’s publication was a tremendous hit with guests and locals alike! With the elections occurring on November 6th, we wish all candidates good luck. Although the chamber does not endorse any candidate, we look forward to a productive and collaborative working relationship with our legislators. In preparation for the upcoming session, we ask that you take the time to complete our priority survey, so we may set legislative priorities, set our legislative agenda and begin to strategize in advance of the session. This 9 day event gets Ocean City in front of hundreds of thousands of potential guests. We will be handing out 2500 bags with our member’s information as well as the 2019 Vacation Planner. If you would like to have your rack cards be included, please contact Lisa Layfield at 410-213-0144 ext. 104. This year we are only able to include standard rack card size materials (or trifolds). Finally, the Chamber, along with Ocean City Tourism representatives will also be headed to Cambridge for the annual Maryland Tour and Travel Summit November 14th-16th. This three-day event attracts 250-300 tourism and hospitality industry leaders from throughout the State of Maryland to learn the latest techniques in marketing, sales, public relations, social media, grassroots advocacy, and to hear about the economic outlook for the industry. Are you concerned about proposed offshore drilling off Maryland’s Coast? If so, please join others in the business community and sign a letter to President Trump and Secretary Zinke to abandon plans for expanded offshore drilling that would threaten our tourism and fishing economy. The deadline to complete and submit this online letter is November 1, 2018. We also encourage you to call Rep. Andy Harris requesting him to take action to stop dangerous offshore drilling from moving forward in the Atlantic. You can reach his DC office at 202-225-5311. Another way you can show your opposition is by joining the Business Alliance to Protect the Atlantic Coast (BAPAC). BAPAC was formed in 2016 to be a voice for the business community in opposition to Atlantic drilling.
