Company size
& sector
This sample structure was set up in order to be roughly representative of the number of cars registered by companies for each
company size segment and activity sector as well as to allow comparisons between countries on a similar bases.
In the following slides, no additional weighting of the data are applied to company sizes or activity sectors segments.

MAIN RESULTS
MAIN RESULTS
Dutch managers appear to be more
mature than other European ones.
They are pushing for switch to new
energies/technologies, especially in
largest companies.
10
#1A positive trend regarding the fleet
growth potential, especially for
large and very large companies.
#2
#3
#4
A non negligible impact of the new
WLTP test for fleet policies.
CO2 emissions are taken into
account by most fleet managers
#5Greater use of telematics compared
with the European average. Major
development across medium-sized
and large fleets.
#6Improvement of driver safety and
behaviour more taken into account
in the use of telematics.
#7 A limited interest in mobility budget.
MAIN RESULTS
11
#1 – A positive trend regarding the fleet growth potential, especially for large and very large companies.
Regardless of the vehicle size or fleet segment, except for smaller companies, the proportion of companies anticipating a growth in fleet
size is greater than that of companies anticipating a decrease. Although the scores are generally lower than the European average, the
dynamism level for 2018 reaches its highest score, in particular with largest companies (with balances of +16 and +11 respectively).
#2 – Dutch managers appear to be more mature than other European ones. They are pushing for switch to new
energies/technologies, especially in largest companies.
New technology solutions like hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles are already widespread across Dutch companies, primarily in
large and very large companies. These companies are leaders as the Netherlands rank 3rd in Europe (behind Belgium and the UK)
amongst countries that most use these new energy solutions. 58% of Dutch companies claim that they have already incorporated these
new energy sources into their vehicle fleet.
#3 – A non negligible impact of the new WLTP test on fleet policies.
46% of Dutch fleet managers claim that the new WLTP test has or will have an impact on their fleet policy. 25% of them say that it already
has an impact in 2018. The country's scores are very much in line with the European level. Fleet managers in the largest companies claim
to have been the most affected (69% vs 62% in Europe).
MAIN RESULTS
#4 – CO2 emissions are taken into account by most fleet managers
61% of Dutch fleet managers claim to take CO2 emissions into account for their fleet policy. The rate even reaches 80% for larger
companies, in line with European scores.
68% of companies have already introduced - or consider introducing - measures to reduce CO2 emissions for mobility solutions (43%
have introduced this type of measure).
The largest companies are leaders in the subject, which is a major concern for 87% of them.
#5 – Greater use of telematics compared with the European average. Major development across medium-sized and large fleets.
With a telematics use rate of 28%, the Netherlands show better results than their European neighbours (19%), particularly for the largest
companies and fleets.
Fleet managers for the largest fleets show the most enthusiasm for this technology and 58% of them claim that they use it, making for an
increase of 7 points compared to 2017. For medium-sized fleets, the use rate has significantly increased from 27% last year to 46% this
year.
#6 – Improvement of driver safety and behaviour more taken into account in the use of telematics.
Although telematics is chiefly used to locate vehicles (71%) and optimise employees' routes (59%), Dutch fleet managers are looking to
use it more in favour of improving driver safety.
In fact, use regarding driver safety and behaviour has dramatically stepped up, with smallest (+21 and +10 respectively) and largest (+15
and +4) companies alike.
12
MAIN RESULTS
#7 – A limited interest in mobility budget.
In total, 12% of Dutch fleet managers claim to be interested in the introduction of a mobility budget in their company and only 7% show
definite interest.
This is a fairly disappointing result, although managers of the largest companies are slightly more enthusiastic with a rate of interest of
18% (11% with definite interest). With 26% of interest, managers of the largest fleets are those with best insight into the mobility budget
(16% claim to have introduced it in their company).
