2018 Fall Semester Parent Notice Dear Parents, New Parents, welcome to Hua-Hsing! Returning Parents, welcome back! Hua-Hsing Chinese School is a non-profit organization devoted to creating a safe challenging learning environment for students of all ages and ethnicities. Hua-Hsing Chinese School (HHCS) was founded in 1989 with the endorsement of Madame Chiang Kai-Shek, one of the most influential woman of the 20th century. Hua-Hsing has exemplified Madame Chiang’s high values on the importance of education and culture awareness. We continue to strive for excellence each semester by maintaining a strong curriculum and hiring the best teachers. Please note our school location is at Jasper High School on Sundays: 6800 Archgate, Plano (South of Legacy Dr. and Archgate Dr.) We thank you for reading and following below instructions for your child(ren). Registration/School Guidelines: 1. Registration is available online. Returning students: begins on April 15, 2018 at 10 A.M. New Students: begins on May 6, 2018 at 10 A.M. on our website: www.huahsing.com 2. Registration is only complete when payment is received and information is completed on registration website. 3. Classes are held on Sundays. Holiday breaks are in accordance with PISD school district schedules. 5. Math class placement: Students are to enroll in same grade level as their primary school. Placement tests are available for new students interested in moving to a higher grade. Registration system is set by the Texas grade eligibility. If your child’s birthday does not match his/her actual grade, please email [email protected] . You will be asked for documentation I.E. primary school schedule or report card. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Kindergarten L1 and Above 1. Must be 5 years old on or before 09/01/18 (potty-trained). 1. Have either successfully completed the previous HHCS grade level, or is currently enrolled in same grade level in primary school All younger children must be potty-trained to attend classes. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 6. To promote or skip a grade: a. Must have completed successfully the previous level at HHCS. Average of 90 or above from all 4 of the major tests (Fall midterm and final exam, Spring midterm and final exam). Teacher recommendation is also required. b. $10 placement tests are available until the 4th week of classes, if above criteria is not met. One placement test attempt a year. c. The highest level a student is allowed to skip is 2 levels above his/her current grade. For example, a 1st grader can only skip to L3 HHCS. d. A student can only skip once per school year. e. If skipping a grade during the semester, past class materials for new grade will not be provided. 7. To transfer: Request must be first submitted to Department Directors pending their approvals. Transfers will be allowed until the 4th week of registered class date; a $10 transfer fee will be administered. 8. Absence or missed class: Please contact the teacher when a student needs to miss a class. Parents will need to make arrangements to pick up the materials from the teacher on that day. Materials are not available in advance. The administration will not have requested teaching materials. A maximum of 4 absences are allowed per semester. Students who exceed four (4) absences without prior approval by school will be forced to withdraw without refund and receive a failing grade for the semester. 9. Withdrawals: It is student’s/parent’s responsibility to officially withdraw from class. Class fees will be prorated along with a $10 withdraw fee. Please see withdrawal form for deadline and details. Withdrawals are not available after the 4th class of registered date. 10. Lost materials: Outline and homework are students’ responsibilities once they are passed out by teachers. Fees will be assessed for additional copies of materials. 11. Discriminate weather/Adverse conditions: Class cancelations will be posted on website: www.huahsing.com 12. Jasper High School doors will be opened at 12:45 pm, please do not drop your children off earlier, they will be unsupervised. 13. The School has ample parking spaces, please park in the south entrance as there are over 800 parking spaces. North parking is for teachers and staff only. All traffic and parking regulations apply at Jasper. No parking in fire lanes. Tickets issued will be the sole responsibility of the offender. HHCS reserves the right to expel a student and remove family from the Jasper premise if the HHCS staff and/or Plano Police witnesses dangerous driving and improper driving. 14. In support of a safe learning environment, all attending students must abide by the Hua Hsing Chinese School Code of Conduct. By registering to become a student, student is acknowledging and agreeing to the Code of Conduct. Code of Conduct is available on school website 15. Dear Parents, New Parents, welcome to Hua-Hsing! Returning Parents, welcome back! Hua-Hsing Chinese School is a non-profit organization devoted to
