2018 COMMUNITY REPORT
goodwill of western and northern connecticut strengthens communities by helping people with disabilities and other disadvantages
maximize independence through job training and other
support services.
OUR MISSION STATEMENT
MICHAEL
For most of his childhood, Michael endured medical misdiagnoses, which resulted in him living in and out of institutions. Despite it all, he has continued to inspire those around him with his drive for independence. By continuing to advocate for himself, Michael gained job skills training in janitorial services and now works independently as a custodial worker, where he continually receives praise from his supervisor for being dependable and responsible.
Determination is a reoccurring word used to describe Shannon. After completing high school, she began a training program for help in developing essential workforce skills that would lead to employment. Despite being turned down for multiple jobs due to inexperience, Shannon persisted. By completing internships in the food service industry, Shannon gained the skills and experience needed to earn a job in food prep for a national restaurant chain.
