Ford’s Tarpon Tournament. With 56 boats, 220+ anglers and $80,000 raised in 2017

to support conservation efforts at the “Ding” Darling Wildlife Refuge, this seventh year

promises to be even better!

Scheduled for Thursday and Friday, May 10 and May 11, 2018, the Captain’s/angler’s meeting is

May 10 where all sponsors and participants are invited to attend and enjoy food, drinks and a silent

auction. The following morning (Friday), May 11, is the actual tournament. That evening there

will be a “Silver King for Ding” Awards Banquet for the anglers and sponsors. Food, drinks, live

music and awards will be part of the festivities.

We are hoping you will consider becoming a sponsor.

The J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge is the location of the first recorded Tarpon caught

on rod and reel and celebrates Southwest Florida’s history of fishing and overall conservation and

wildlife protection.

With 100% of the entry fees going back into the winnings, the only way this tournament makes

money for conservation is through sponsorships and donations.

The “Ding” Darling Wildlife Society – Friends of the Refuge, is hosting the 7th

Annual 2018 “Ding” Darling & Doc Ford’s Tarpon Tournament on May 10-

11, 2018. Proceeds from this tournament will go directly to the conservation

efforts at the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge. This is the only

tournament in SW Florida where 100% of the entry fees go back to the

anglers in prize money. Some of the best tarpon fisherman come to this

tournament and have made it a tradition. With competitive fishing, captain’s

dinner and awards banquet, avid fisherman and professional guides have already

asked to sign up for this 7th annual tournament.

The first 20 sponsors at the Gold level and above will be given first priority in

entering the tournament. It will then be open to the public no later than early
