background:
UN Environment is supporting many countries in improving
vehicle fuel efficiency, through its work with the Global Fuel
Economy Initiative (GFEI). This initiative is led by the FIA
Foundation, UN Environment, the International Energy Agency,
the International Council for Clean Transportation, UC Davis,
and the International Transport Forum.
In Asia, UN Environment is working with several regional and
national organizations to develop fuel economy policies by
understanding their vehicle fleet and developing fiscal
policies to encourage adoption of more efficient vehicles. UN
Environment is working with GIZ and Clean Air Asia.
Objectives:
To share experiences in developing national policies for more
efficient vehicles including electric and the challenges and
benefits of having regional approach in promoting policy
development
