CAmP CAdeT“A Positive Experience for Police and Youth”

The members of Troop “N” Pennsylvania State Police are proud to once again sponsor the Camp Cadet program.

This week-long camp is designed to give young people a better understanding of law enforcement activities in an atmosphere of an actual State Police training school.

Funds for the camp are raised by area police, civic and business groups. However, donations are gladly accepted and can be made to:“Troop N Camp Cadet,” P.O. Box 2279, Hazleton, PA 18201.

CAmP ACTIvITIesThe groups who will make presentations to the young participants include the FBI, United States Marshal Services, and the Pennsylvania Game Commission.

Following are some of the demonstrations that these groups will present:

Radar Demonstrations Helicopter Demonstrations Martial Arts Drug Awareness Canine Demonstrations

The participants are encouraged to make new friends in the camp and work with them in teams; self-discipline is also emphasized. Each evening after dinner, time is allotted for the participants to engage in supervised sporting activities, including running, swimming, and other sports.

CAmP sPeCsCheck-in is Sunday afternoon, July 15, and the week is concluded Friday, July 20 following a graduation ceremony that includes family and friends.

The camp is co-ed. To be eligible, youths must be 12 through 14 years of age and be a resident of Troop N, which includes lower Luzerne, Carbon, Columbia, and Monroe counties.

Anyone interested must submit an application no later than March 31. Names of those entered are randomly selected, and those children are contacted to interview with our camp directors. If your child is welcomed to join the camp, the only charge is a $20 administrative fee, payable at the interview (do not send money with the application).

The camp is held at the Hazleton Campus of Penn State University in Hazleton, PA. Directions to the camp and other additional information will be provided to those who are accepted to the camp.
