2018 Western Front Tour – Objectives

Attend large 1918 historical recreation campat Verdun, invitation from French governmentauthorities.

Carrying items made by the students of PortCurtis Road State School, to present to thecitizens of Verdun and to place on Memorialsat the Western Front.

Represent Central Queensland as members ofthe 9th Battalion AIF Living History Unit inFrance. Carry Australian National Flagdonated by Michelle Landry MP.

Travel to Australian battlefields on the WesternFront in period uniform, attend andparticipate in remembrance services.

Wear the kit, walk the battlefields andremember the service and sacrifice made bythe men and women who fought for Australia.

9th Battalion AIF

The 9th Battalion was among the first infantry

units raised for the AIF during the First World War.

It was the first battalion recruited in

Queensland, and with the 10th, 11th and 12th

Battalions it formed the 3rd Brigade.
