IV. IT IS WELL BECAUSE OUR LOVED ONE IS NOT DEAD
It is only the body we lay in the grave, the spirit has gone to God who gave it, and Jesus is with us today as He has been with countless bereaved ones all thru the centuries to plant the lilies of resurrection hope upon the grave of our beloved.
Death has lost its sting and the grave its victory for through the sorrow that darkens our lives shines the clear steady light of Christian hope. We look forward to another meeting that shall hold no shadow of parting and we will have our loved ones forever. Like the Shunamite woman, we can say, "It is well".
"It is well" for -
He is not dead, the child of our affection, But gone unto that school
Where he no longer needs our poor protection, And Christ Himself doth rule
In that great cloister's stillness and seclusion By guardian angels led,
Safe from temptation, safe from sins pollution He lives, whom we call dead

This letter I'm typing off was written to me, Liz Carson, from Nellie (Thompson)-Weo1:i
Pg #1
This is what I have been told about my mother's family-my mother: Mabell P. Wood. She married my father in June 1911 . My father was James "Jimmie" A. Thompson.
Grandparents were George Edwin and Katherine or Catherine (sp) Bailey Wood.
Father: George Edwin Wood: Born in Breckenridge, Montcalm County, Michigan.
Mother: Cora Marsh: Married in August 1884; died January 22, 1898. They had 6 (six) children.
JoeW. Frank (Kicked by a horse and killed when very young) Mabell P. (my mother) Charles K. (Always called Kinley) James E. Vireatus (he changed his name to Victor and was always called 'Vic")
After death of first wife, George E. Wood married Anne Maude Thompson (my father's sister) on August 8, 1899. She was a real mother to the first five living children of George Wood and the dearest grandmother to all their children.
George E. and Anne Maude (Thompson) Wood had 5 (five) children:
Clayton Auston (Called Auston) Cora E. Mayme Francis (Now living in Waitsburg) Jennie (Now in Booker Nursing home, Dayton)
Pg#2
I really didn't know the children of my mother's full brothers, except her oldest brother's son, Joseph Clayton Wood living Sumner, Washington. Cousin Joe comes to all our family get-together's, anniversaries, etc. We usually only correspond at Christmas.
Do not know Austins children, Aunt Cora (Wood) Sailor had two daughters and we keep in touch. Aunt Mame and Aunt Jennie had no children. Do not see Uncle Francis and Aunt Mabel (Horney) Wood's children except at get-togethers. Their children are:
Dan Frank George John Kay Jerry Jim
My mother Mabell P. Wood (Mrs. James A. Thompson) remembers, Annie Maude (Thompson) Wood was my daddy's sisster. I have two brothers:
-r ~ -r.,.. -r ~ ---- ------- ---- .. ----Lewis A Thompson--Walla Walla, Wash. Virgil N. Thompson-Couer d'Alene, Idaho
My sister Cora Olive (Thompson) Crossler, Stecker passed away 9 years ago. still weep about that-lung cancer.
Pg#3
My sis was always called "Ollie". She was named after Olive F. Lyons who took my mother after her own mother died. I remember "Auntie" Lyons as a dear, frail lady who had the Lyons Ferry. After her dad remarried, mother went back to the ranch.
My sister Ollie married Leo Crossler, Don's Uncle "Willie's" first group of kids. Leo and sis were divorced when their two boys, Jack and Jim Crossler were only 3 years and 8 years old. Both Jack and Jim and their wives and Jim's daughter and boy friend came to our 60th celebration last summer. The boys each have two dauthers. This summer Jim's daughter Rita Kay was married in Enumclaw and Jack's daughter was married at Auburn, Washington. (Liza)
My bro. Lewie had 3 sons, all living in Walla Walla. Virgil and Jane adapted a boy and he lives on the coast.
By the way after George E. Wood passed away, my grandma Anne Maude Thompson Wood married Dennis Shea and they had 1 dauther, Lula Mae. So Lula Mae is my cousin and not a half aunt, like the others.
Pg#4
Aunt Jennie and Uncle Francis gave me the information about the Thompson family. I do know (somehow) that my grandfather, John, was married several times and daddy had half brothers and sisters but I really can't make heads or tails out of the records of the Thompson family bible.
Sure been rambling , but hope it helps a little.
Nelllie
P.S. This picture I copied was in an old photoalbum of my mothers.
