1. Title: Genetic Signature center for fostering next generation translational cancer
research (GSCC) at Tanta University-Faculty of medicine (Project ID#:
CEP1-038-TAN)
Source: Management unit development projects of Higher Education, Ministry of Higher
Education &Tanta University, Egypt
Goal: The major goal of this project is to enhance a new policies to make an early
detection and therapy of different kinds of cancer using a novel techniques like Next
Generation Sequencer “NGS” to analyze micro RNA of the cancer patient.
Funding period: 1/1/2013 – 1/1/2015
Fund: 4,000,000 L.E.
Role: Research Assistant, molecular genetic unit – Next generation sequencer
laboratory.
2. Title: Genetic Signature Cancer Center Laboratory International Accreditation
(GSCCL)
Source: Ministry of Higher Education, Egypt
Goal: This project aims to: - Reduce the margin of errors at work. - The speed of
accurate diagnosis of disease and the speed of treatment, which preserves the lives of
many people. - A larger number of papers in less time with access to accurate and
reliable results which will encourage many researchers to make progress in their
research in this laboratory.

3. Title: Whole Exome Sequencing and Epigenetic study in colorectal cancers in
Delta region

Goal: The major goal of this project is to identify the genetic signature of malignant and
benign tissue using whole exome and epigenetic sequencing in patients with
colorectal cancer.

4. Title: Using biotechnological approach for mRNA-based vaccination in cancer
immunotherapy

Goal: The major goal of this project is to enhance the potency of RNA-based vaccines
that can potentially be applied to cancer vaccination systems with a tumor-associated
antigen to be conducted for most cancer vaccinations.

Goal: The major goal of this project is to establish the “Center of Excellence in Cancer
Research (CECR) to carry out internationally recognized research in molecular cell
biology and immunology in general and in cancer in particular. The main themes are: 1)
Cellular and Molecular Immunology; 2) Cancer Genetics; 3) HLA typing; and 4) DNA
sequencing.

b. Completed Research Support
1- Title: ''Evaluation of the efficacy of some new synthetic organic compounds in
control of Schistosoma mansoni infection'' (Project ID#: TU-09-23-2009)
Source: Research fund, Tanta University, Egypt
Goal: In this project, we have developed and tested the biological activity of new
synthetic organic compounds (37 compounds) as anti-schistosomal drug candidate.
Among these compounds, there is a promising compound showed substantial
anti-bilahrzial activity including a reduction in both total worm burden and total ova count
in the targeted tissues. The study through this project will be extended to prepare and
evaluate about (30 compounds) new organic compounds as anti-schistosomal efficacy.
Funding period: 9/8/2009 – 8/8/2010
Fund: 30,000 L.E.
Role: Co-Investigator.
2- Title: “Assessment of the susceptibility of expected non-human hosts to S. mansoni
infection and their capacity for transmission of the disease
Source: Research fund, Tanta University, Egypt
Goal: In this project, we made a survey for investigation of the susceptibility of
indigenous five types of wild rodents: "Greater Egyptian Gerbil, Yellow-crowned
Brush-tailed Rat, Lesser Egyptian Gerbil, Roof or ship rat and African Grass Rat" to S.
mansoni infection, aims to evaluate the potential role of the in transmission of the
disease.
Funding period: 1/10/2008 – 30/12/2010
Fund: 30,000 L.E.
