The Broadway Theatre of Pitman is headed into its 11th Main Stage season and the quality of our productions has never been better! Year after year, we continue to provide our patrons with exceptional entertainment at some of the lowest prices in the region. We are thrilled to be introducing our 2017 Main Stage lineup and look forward to delivering another outstanding theatre season.

We start off the season with the hit musical, La Cage Aux Folles, followed by the comedic play, Barefoot in the Park. Next up will be the triumphant Camelot and the marvelous Titanic. The season will draw to a close with the family favorite, Shrek: The Musical, and the world premiere of Return of the Phantom: A New Musical.

Located in the heart of downtown Pitman, the completely renovated Broadway Theatre of Pitman is the perfect place to spend time enjoying quality theatre with family, friends and loved ones. There truly isn’t a bad seat in the house! We offer six shows for only $89, a bargain you won’t find anywhere else in the area. And all of our musical productions feature songs performed by our LIVE pit orchestra.

This heartfelt story revolves around the relationship between Albin and Georges, lovers of 20 years who own and perform in the best nightclub in St. Tropez. This romantic comedy by Neil Simon began on Broadway in 1963, becoming a smash hit that ran for over 1500 performances. This play takes place in a NYC apartment, following the lives of Corie and Paul – newlyweds fresh home from their honeymoon. Corie is a spirited young woman, filled with adventure and passion. Paul’s conservative nature shows in his work as he begins his career as an up and coming lawyer. The two must learn to adjust to married life at their apartment, find a way to balance romance and work, handle quirky neighbors and occasionally the snow as it falls through their broken skylight.

This musical received multiple awards in 1960 and is recognized for its use of lyrical simplicity and lush romanticism in songs like “Camelot,” “C’est Moi,” “If Ever I Would Leave You” and “I Loved You Once in Silence.” The perfect combination of humor, fearlessness and romance, Camelot is the classic legend of the Knights of the Round Table in King Arthur’s reign, and the tragic love triangle between the noble King Arthur, the errant but lovely Queen Guinevere and the trusted Sir Lancelot.

This musical is suitable for all audiences.

With Music and Lyrics by Yeston (who wrote the score to Phantom), this 1997 Broadway show took the Tony Award for Best Musical. Titanic is gorgeously written, with sweeping, soaring songs that leave you laughing or crying. The colorful cast goes from the working-class Irish “Kates” lower decks, to the upper decks Grand Salon home to the Wideners and Astors. Known for highlighting the differences and similarities between the First, Second and Third class passengers, Titanic is an audience favorite for spectacle and song! Featuring the songs, “I Must Get on that Ship,” “First Class Roster,” “Wake Up, Wake Up,” “Still” and “We’ll Meet Again Tomorrow,” Titanic depicts the passengers’ thrill to be a part of the ship’s maiden voyage and the reality that strikes as the tragic night unfolds.

Smitherman with music by Daniel Humbert) continues the saga of love, romance and suspense in Paris, France. Now, twenty years later, the Paris Opera reopens not only to the world debut of a new opera, but also to the return of the same Phantom who haunted the opera house before. Return of the Phantom is sure to thrill audiences with a soaring musical score and stirring storyline filled with twists and adventure!

As we prepare for 2017 and The Broadway Theatre’s 11th Anniversary, I would like to take a moment to thank you for your continued support of the Broadway Theatre of Pitman.

The Broadway Theatre is 91 years old and was originally used for live entertainment. We have continued this tradition by expanding our offering of live events to include concerts, plays, musicals and Children’s Theatre productions. As we continue adding events, we believe it’s important to keep our productions family-oriented and cost-effective during these difficult economic times.
