altuve’s baseball camp: Astros IF Jose Altuve announced the date and location of his inaugural youth baseball camp...the one-day Jose Altuve Baseball ProCamp presented by SunnyD will be held on June 15 from 9:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Friendswood High School.

WBC INFO: The Astros have 9 players participating in the 2017 World Baseball Classic, as minor league IF Stijn van der Meer was recently added to Team Netherlands...the remaining Astros in the WBC will be: Jose Altuve (Venezuela), Norichika Aoki (Japan), Carlos Beltrán (Puerto Rico), Alex Bregman (U.S.A.), Kevin Chapman (Canada), Dayan Diaz (Colombia), Carlos Correa (Puerto Rico) and Luke Gregerson (U.S.A.)...the WBC begins on March 7 in Japan, and also in the U.S., Venezuela and Puerto Rico, where exhibitions vs. MLB teams will be played.

2016 recap: The Astros finished last season in 3rd place in the AL West with an 84-78 record, marking the first time that they posted back-to-back winning seasons since 2005-06...Jose Altuve had a banner season, taking home Sporting News Player of the Year and MLBPA Player’s Choice Player of the Year honors and his 2nd AL batting crown in 3 seasons (.338, 108 R, 216 H, 42 2B, 24 HR, 96 RBI, 30 SB)...Evan Gattis led the club in HR with a career-best 32...after a 7-17 record in April, the Astros rebounded to go 77-61 the rest of the way to get back into playoff contention (eliminated on final weekend).
