STARTthepossessionclock:
1. Whenthegameclockstarts.a. EXCEPTION:Thewhistleonthedraw.
2. Whenanofficialsignalstostartthepossessionclockwiththefollowingsignal(windingofonearm):
*Thissignalwillbeusedprimarilytoindicatepossessionafterthedraw(focuseyesontheofficialclosesttotheball)andfollowingashotthathitsthepipeorisdeflectedoffofthegoalkeeper(focuseyesontheleadofficialpositionedclosesttothegoalcircle).
3. Whenthepossessionclockisstoppedandtheplayerwiththeballself-startsORtheofficialrestartsplaywithawhistle.
4. Whentheball/ballcarrierhasgoneoutofbounds(sidelineandendline)andtheplayerwiththeballself-startsORtheofficialrestartsplaywithawhistleandsignalsthefollowing:
STOPthepossessionclock:
1. Anytimethegameclockstops.a. NOTE:Possessionclockstillstopsifthereisa10ormoregoaldifferential.
2. Whentheball/ballcarrierhasgoneoutofbounds(sidelineandendline).a. LISTENforanofficial’swhistle.
3. Whenanofficialsignalstostopthepossessionclockwiththefollowingsignal(tappingofthehead):
IMMEDIATELYSOUNDTHEAIRHORNONCE:
1. Whenthe90secondsonthepossessionclockhasEXPIRED.DoNOTwaitforasignal.
TURNOFFthepossessionclockwhenthereisaresetsituationandthereislessthan90secondsremainingonthegameclockattheendofeachhalfandovertimeperiod.ALTERNATING-POSSESSIONARROWSETthearrowtostartthegameuponanofficial’sinstructionfollowingthepre-gamemeetingwiththecaptains.Thearrowshouldpointinthedirectionthattheteamwhowillbeawardedthenextalternatepossessionisattacking.SWITCHthearrow:
1. AFTERthewhistlethatrestartsplayasaresultofoffsettingfoulsindicatedbythefollowingsignal:
2. Athalftime.3. IFteamschangeendsinbetweentheendofregulationandthestartof
overtime.4. Afterthefirst3-minutehalfofany6-minuteovertimeperiod.5. Duringthe3-minuterestperiodfollowingthecompletionofany6-minute
overtimeperiod.Iftheoptionofavisualpossessionarrowisnotutilized,thetablepersonnelareresponsibleformaintainingarecordofalternatepossession.Ifanindicatorisutilizedinlieuofanarrow,theindicatorshouldbeplacedonthesideofthetablethatisclosesttothebenchoftheteamwhowillbeawardedthenextalternatepossession.
