41st Annual Tallahassee MarathonFebruary 8, 2015Florida State University

Come take part in an annual tradition that has been happening in Tallahassee since 1975. The marathon and half marathon will start on Chieftan Way on Florida State University’s campus at 7:30 a.m. Both race courses go through the St. Marks Trail and are paved and essentially flat. Cecka Rose Green, creator of the #FAMU10for10 Challenge, was recently elected to the Board of Directors for

Voices for Florida, a social entrepreneur organization, engaging thought leaders and leading academic thinkers to help amplify and accelerate economic and social public policies to create future-focused, children-centered communities. The FAMU 10 for $10 Challenge social media fundraising campaign has raised more than $200,000 in contributions to Florida A&M University through the University’s Foundation. Cecka also is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and Jack and Jill of America, Inc. and is a Life Member of the FAMU National Alumni Association. In July, Cecka was awarded “HBCU Alumna of the Year” by HBCU Digest.

Alexis Phillips recently celebrated 10 years as Director of Communications at Rogers, Gunter, Vaughn

Insurance—recently named one of the Best Companies to Work For by Florida Trend magazine for the second consecutive year. She is currently the Board Chair of the Young Philanthropist

Circle of the United Way of the Big Bend and also serves as Training Director for the Junior League of Tallahassee.

Talethia O. Edwards has started a new organization called The H.A.N.D. (Helping Alleviate the

Need and Deficient) Up Project. A wife, mentor, community leader and mother to seven children, her family grew faster than their finances so Talethia learned first-hand about managing marriage, money and missions with limited funds and started couponing as a hobby. The H.A.N.D. Up Project’s mission is to help others learn how to create their own economy through couponing, consignment, selling and reselling.

Tiffany T. Malone, O.D. recently opened her own private optometry practice and optical center called Big

Bend Family Eye Care. She has been practicing in the area for over 10 years and sees patients for comprehensive eye exams, contact lens fits, dry eye disease, cataract diagnosis, glaucoma, diabetic eye exams, age-related macular degeneration and ocular emergencies.

Dr. Anne Holt, Executive Director of Main Street of Monticello, received the coveted award for an

“Outstanding Event by a Florida Main Street Organization” by the Secretary of State’s Office during the Florida Main Street Annual Conference. This year’s event, titled “Sharing Water Conference: The Floridan Aquifer in Alabama, Georgia and Florida,” was held in the Monticello Opera House, was coordinated by Dr. Holt, and drew expert speakers on protecting our water supply from three states, including Senator Bill Montford and Representative Halsey Beshears.

Judy Micale has recently received her certifications for coaching and is a Certified Mentor Coach as well as an ACC

through the ICF. She has also received her certification as a facilitator for “5 Languages of Appreciation at Work” and is enrolled to be a certified trainer for Jack Canfield’s Success Principles.

As part of a community of business-minded women, Tallahassee Woman wants to celebrate,

recognize and honor the achievements made by women in the workplace, in the community

and in arts and culture. In so doing, we are connecting women together, empowering one

another and celebrating our successes that are making a difference for everyone.

In addition to the printed and digital magazine, we have embraced the use of social media platforms, specifically Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram to reach our target market.

20,000 copies are printed each issue with readership estimated at 2.5 times higher by industry standards. In addition, a single issue of the magazine is often read over and over, since they can be found in waiting rooms and other high traffic areas that women frequent, as well as copies shared between friends and families.

The magazine is also available as a digital edition online in full, including editorial, advertisements and live links to advertisers’ websites from their ads.

The magazines are direct-mailed to income-qualified Tallahassee residences, professional women and woman-focused businesses. Mailing is targeted to residences located in the uptown area of Tallahassee in zip code 32312, where incomes range from $115K to $170K, with an average household income of $140K.

Tallahassee Woman staff personally distributes to approximately 400 select locations in the area, including Publix, medical offices, hair salons, spas, nail shops, financial institutions, schools, boutiques, women’s clubs, fitness centers, restaurants, hotels and other key businesses frequented by women. It is also provided to conferences, meetings, church groups and other events where women frequent.

Copies are also available at newcomer entry points to the community, such as the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce and through the Tallahassee Visitors Center. In addition, signature color distribution boxes are strategically placed throughout the readership area.
