Joined A Painting Club, Found A Home!

I joined in 1990. I started a painting and wood working career in 1986, when I moved from up north to Milford. With my mother-in-law Prudy, we took basic panting at Anne’s Crafts in Northville, Witchcraft in Livonia and Village painters.

Nancy Lenski told us about The Valley Tole mini retreat in Frankenmuth. Met Marilyn Kur in a booth and wha-la! Introduced Prudy and I to Brush Benders and Valley Tole.

This is a very special group of warm and friendly acquaintances, who turned into my friends!

Love you all!

Pure Happiness

When Diane asked me to write a short bio I thought, “no problem” and yet, as I try to write I’m thinking hmm, what about me is important to my fellow painters?

I didn’t come to Brush Benders the first time I was invited, other plans stopped me. I wish I would have because the sewing themed multimedia piece is awesome! Sue didn’t give up on me, she again invited me to a meeting that I could attend and I fell in love! Painting is a growth curve for me and something I have always wanted to learn, afraid to venture into it on my own. I am so glad to be a part of this group! I love painting!

I came to you knowing almost nothing except that I needed a brush and water! Today I feel much more comfortable with our projects (at least holding a brush!). You all welcomed me, encouraged me, and gave me tips and techniques to try. Knowledge is shared freely! This organization is truly a family in all the good ways!

Happy Birthday Wendy — April 13th

March project Wendy will be leading us in March with an ink and acrylic on a wooden domino.

Bring your painting supplies, colors of paint that you want for your owl and a size 2 or 3 Micron pen. Wooden Dominos and eyelets will be available at the March meeting.

The colors in the model owl are Burnt Sienna, green, yellow, white and black.

I am really looking forward to this project that can become a wearable and a really cool gift item if you are inclined to do more than one!

Happy Painting!

Memory Boxes

Our painting family is proud to help those in need. Brush Benders provides memory boxes to those who have experienced still birth or infant loss. A BIG shout out to Rondi Bur for handling and delivery, two hospitals, St. Mary’s in Livonia and St. Joe’s in Ann Arbor.

Pam Wittman you Rock!! Pam donates dozens of beautifully painted boxes each year, Pam you deserve much praise, some atta girls and a couple of hugs too!

WOW WOW WOW ☺

Each and every box is special. Our prayers to the receiving family is…

To let our hearts and brushes paint with hope, patience and understanding. Hopefully in some way our contributions may help the healing process.

Blessings to one and all.

Dianne H

Thanks to all the ladies that were able to come to the Brush Benders meeting and paint memory boxes. St. Joe's and St. Mary's will be happy to receive them. They really appreciate all the time and effort that goes into painting them. See you at the March meeting, and yes, I will have more unfinished boxes for anyone to take home and paint. Thanks, Rondi
