You don’t know what to expect, but it does. Using sophisticated sensors, it reads the road – and your driving input – 500 times per second. Then, it adjusts to help deliver a smooth ride and responsive handling.

Depending on your mood, feel free to select between 3 drive modes – Comfort, Normal or Sport. With any of them, Electric Power-Assisted Steering (EPAS) automatically adjusts to provide the kind of steering response and feedback that makes you confident behind the wheel.

When an opportunity presents itself, take action. Here’s a worthy cause and an outstanding offer: MKZ Hybrid is available at the same starting price as its standard 2.0-litre sibling. With a fuel consumption rating of 5.7L/100 km city (50 mpg city),1 the MKZ hybrid powertrain seamlessly switches between an Atkinson-cycle gasoline engine and an electric traction motor. It charges its lithium-ion battery while you drive, which means you don’t need to plug it in. In fact, MKZ has the ability to travel at highway speeds in purely electric mode.

With 245 horsepower and 275 lb.-ft. of torque2 on command, MKZ delivers, thanks to the boost of twin-scroll turbocharging; the precision and efficiency of direct fuel injection; and the sophistication of twin independent variable camshaft timing (Ti-VCT). DON’T BE CAUGHT OFF GUARD.

Some vehicles may be out of your line of sight, but they can be spotted by BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with cross-traffic alert.1 If the system’s radar sensors detect a vehicle in either blind spot while you’re driving forward, the system can alert you with a light in the corresponding sideview mirror. While backing up, it can also detect a vehicle approaching from either side, then notify you with a warning light and an audible tone.

STAY CENTERED.

If you start to drift out of your lane, the Lane-Keeping System1,2 is there to help. Using a forward-facing camera to detect road lane markings, it can apply steering wheel torque and even alert you with steering wheel vibration to help direct you to return to your lane. If it detects that you’ve crossed the line or repeatedly drifted, it can prompt the Driver Alert System1 to chime and display a coffee cup image to remind you that it’s break time.

REDUCE CONFLICT.

Sometimes you can’t see it coming. Unexpected brake lights. A sudden turn in front of you. Get help from our Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection.1 Using camera and radar technology, it can monitor your vehicle’s proximity to other vehicles and pedestrians. If a potential collision is detected, it can alert you with visible and audible warnings and, if needed, precharge the brakes and increase brake sensitivity to help provide full responsiveness when you brake. If the system determines a collision is imminent, active braking may automatically apply full braking.3

STRESS LESS IN STOP-AND-GO.

There’s no need to hold down the brake pedal for a long stoplight or extended wait. Just activate the new Auto Hold feature, then come to a complete stop. Even on a hill, the system will hold your MKZ in place until you press the accelerator.

When highway cruising or in lower-speed traffic, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go1 is designed to eliminate the need for constant adjustments. You simply set the speed, and the system can adjust to maintain a preset gap from the vehicle in front of you, even following it to a complete stop.

Wherever you need to park, MKZ can make it easier to manoeuvre into a spot. The Enhanced Active Park Assist System1 uses ultrasonic sensors to help when you’re looking for a perpendicular spot to back into or parallel parking. The system not only helps you find a suitable space, it steers the vehicle into it. All you do is follow on-screen prompts, and control the shifter, brake and accelerator pedals. It even provides assistance when pulling out of a parallel spot. And for additional guidance during parking manoeuvres, the Forward1 and Reverse Sensing Systems can emit beeping tones to alert you to objects near the front or rear of your vehicle.

When you’re away, your MKZ patiently awaits your return, to welcome you, invite you in and even illuminate your path in the darkness.

As you approach, MKZ senses your key fob from about 3 metres away and slowly raises its exterior lighting. Then, it graciously casts a luminous welcome mat with the Lincoln logo upon the ground beneath each sideview mirror.

As you enter, LED lights in the door handle pockets gently glow. The intensity is fine-tuned to the exterior colour. Inside, the cabin also puts on a show of ambient lighting, until you press the engine start/stop button.

Once you close the door and relax into your seat, MKZ adjusts the autofold sideview mirrors with memory according to your personalized settings. It’s been expecting you.

START IT SMARTER.

No need to bear the cold or heat when you get inside your MKZ. The MyLincoln Mobile™ app – enabled by an embedded modem1 – lets you use your smartphone to start your vehicle remotely so it can adjust to your pre-selected climate settings. You can even schedule a daily or weekly start time. Locate your vehicle, remotely lock or unlock its doors and more, with just a few taps.

The app is available as a download for most smartphone platforms. Every new Lincoln owner can use it to access Roadside Assistance, the Lincoln Concierge, and other premium services.

HYBRID/ELECTRIC UNIQUE COMPONENT COVERAGE

Your vehicle’s unique hybrid/electric components are covered during the Hybrid/Electric Unique Component Coverage, which lasts for 8 years or 160,000 km, whichever occurs first. The following hybrid parts are covered during this extended coverage period: high-voltage battery, hybrid continuously variable transmission, Inverter System Controller (ISC), DT/DC converter, high-voltage battery connector, battery pack fan assembly, thermistor probe, Hybrid Battery Pack Sensor Module (HBPSM), Battery Energy Control Module (BECM), and PHEV onboard charger.
