Attendees and exhibitors of CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2017 partnered to raise over $100,000 to help military veterans find quality through multiple charitable events throughout the week. The proceeds, which benefit the show’s official charitable partner, the Call of Duty™ Endowment, were raised through online, silent and live auctions, as well as an after-hours concert by the multi-platinum rock band FOREIGNER. The non-profit organization, founded by Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard, helps military veterans secure high-quality jobs and raises awareness of the value vets bring to the workplace. These new benefit events offered the opportunity for CONEXPO-CON/AGG participants to not only network and have fun, but also rally together as a construction industry community to raise funds to support military veterans.

Hosts GlobalBy All Means in New Orleanse4 2014

At e4 2014 in New Orleans, Monday evening’s event took place at multiple hotels. These transitions created an opportunity for frustration or boredom, but Hosts Global recommended multiple and unique means of transportation and entertainment that not only took people’s minds off the heat and group movement through the city, but also made for great photos opps and memories. For the transition from the Hilton New Orleans to the Sheraton New Orleans, four different transportation methods were utilized; mule drawn carriages, pedicabs, double-decker buses and…Mardi Gras parade floats! Guests were given the traditional Mardi Gras bead necklaces and had fun throwing them to the citizens and tourists of New Orleans. The party didn’t end after the Sheraton. The group then moved over to the Marriott across the street. The Wild Mohicans Mardi Gras Indians led the group out of the ballroom to ground level, weher the youth Drum Lines and pyrotechnics lined the street between the two hotels. Even the escalator trip up to the ballroom included a gospel choir on one of the landings. Upon exiting the Marriott reception, guests had a choice of two different after glows and were met by Stilt Walkers who led them to either the Hotel Monteleone or the Royal Sonesta. Hosts Global and New Orleans took what could have been negative group movements and turned them into lasting memories.

Philadelphia CVBThe Future is Now2017 NFL Draft

For 2017, the National Football League worked with the Philadelphia CVB to create its first ever outdoor NFL Draft experience along the iconic Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Constructing the largest open-air theatre of its kind, the venue soared eight stories high and seated over 3,000 fans on three tiers, creating a novel experience they will never forget. While the NFL draft has been staged in different cities, none have highlighted those cities in a manner on par with the 2017 experience in Philadelphia.

Society for College and University PlanningThe Museum Experience52nd Annual Meeting, 2017

While many choose to highlight the “good ‘ole red, white and blue” when holding events in D.C., SCUP chose a different path for their “SCUP Commons” at its 52nd Annual Meeting, held there in July of 2017. Leveraging the identity of the Smithsonian Museums, SCUP designed three different experiences within the unique Marriott Wardman Park exhibit hall. An Air and Space Museum hall included a runway down the center aisle, airplanes and astronauts. A Natural History space highlighted dinosaurs, wooly mammoths and elephants. And an Art Museum celebrated members’ award-winning architectural pieces, complete with benches for contemplative viewing. Creative, themed signage was created to help guests navigate the experience effortlessly.

Hello! Washington DCSomewhere Beyond the SeaADP Meeting of the Minds

For ADP’s Meeting of the Minds conference, Hello! helped create a two-part experience that drew on the event’s Vintage Travel theme while accommodating a delayed entry into their buyout at Universal Orlando. Part one was dinner staged in the Hilton Bonnet Creek’s expansive ballroom, which was transformed into a luxury ocean liner, using vintage china and tables, ornate linen and centerpiece designs to capture the elegance of the bygone sailing culture of the 1940s. The room was wrapped and draped with swags to make it appear more intimate, while “port hole” projection screens displayed the journey “across the pond.” Once the vessel “docked,” guests boarded luxury coaches transporting them to New York City, naturally! A theme aligned, immersive experience refreshed the notion of how to execute a theme park buyout.

Medical Group Management Association (MGMA)Reinventing EngagementMGMA16 – Annual Conference

Using an Innovation Lab as a springboard for reinvention, MGMA implemented several strategies for revamping its Annual Meeting’s look and feel, main stage sessions and attendee engagement experiences. A digital backdrop changed vignettes for each main stage session. Updated registration and Career Center Live areas featured modern lines and graphics, creating much visual impact. And two separate lounges, The Backyard and The Living Room, created intimate environments where both extroverts and introverts felt at home, using touches like comfy seating configurations and lawn games to engage guests in a variety of ways.

Hello! ArizonaMixed MetallicUnion Pacific Railroad Awards Dinner

After losing an outdoor tent space the organization had used for its awards ceremony for seven previous years, Union Pacific Railroad worked with Hello! Arizona to bring the outdoors inside. Using a mixed metallic motif that reflected the twilight sparkle of the Mojave Desert, they transformed one of the Wigwam’s ballrooms into an elegant space that transported guests. Chocolate drape adorned the walls, creating a more intimate night time feel. Sheer panels and crystal columns uplit with sunset hues helped make the space feel larger. The strikingly bold pattern of the carpet, decidedly Arizona in color and pattern, worked perfectly with the subdued tones of the décor, resulting in a fresh take on an Arizona-themed party, bringing the outdoors in.

Hello! Washington DCBuild Your CapitalADP Meeting of the Minds

Forced to relocate when Washington D.C.’s Union Station announced renovation plans, ADP and Hello! Washington DC quickly found a replacement venue for the group’s massive concert; the Newseum, one of DC’s hottest new museums. Unlike many DC venues, however, the Newseum permits customization of its spaces – a real boon for the theming of the experience. Leveraging its Build Your Capital theme, the team incorporated branded and themed bars and interactive entertainment that highlighted the museum’s focus on how the first amendment and journalism have shaped and defined American History. The museum’s unique layout facilitated décor and food that were integrated organically throughout the space, blurring the lines between permanent display and rental item. To guests, the entire museum appeared to be built just for this event.

Hello! Washington DCCalifornia GrillADP Meeting of the Minds

Redefining the notion of a theme park buyout experience, ADP and Hello! Washington DC took full advantage of the California Grill. Perched atop Disney’s Contemporary Resort, the upscale “new Californian” restaurant is only a few hundred feet away from the Magic Kingdom, and even pipes in the soundtrack for the fireworks nightly. To enhance the minimalist furniture and artwork in the space, they usedcolorful orange and gold linen with bright pops of fresh floral. The nod to the fantasy-inspired park helped pull attendees into the experience. Every detail was meticulously planned, including custom name cards with whimsical icons denoting the entrée selection of each guest, and personalized Mickey ears as an attendee takeaway. The result was a magical theme park view, giving guests the feeling that they were inside the park while they sat comfortably at their table.

Maritz Global EventsThe Galleries at e4 2016e4 2016

e4 2016 was developed around the organizing principle of "Share It,” taking the event’s hallmark attributes of peer-to-peer dialogue and deep networking to the next level. Guests were asked in advance to share their events through photos, videos and memorabilia across a variety of galleries, designed to reflect a Museum of Modern Art. To best highlight the work and provide ample browsing opportunities, the company staged multiple functions within the e4 Galleries, including the welcome reception, breakfast every day, coffee breaks, lunches and educational sessions, such as client-led Gallery Talks. Partners who helped bring the space to life included MGM Event Productions, The Mirage, Freeman, CORT, PRG and Hosts Global Las Vegas.

Maritz Global EventsThe Dinner Party You’ve Always Wantede4 2016

Seeking a unique and engaging way to provide a memorable closing evening for e4 2016, the MGE design team and Bellagio, created a great experiment with “The Dinner Party You’ve Always Wanted.” The concept was to stage 50 intimate dinner parties within the same space, driving the kinds of high-quality conversations that result from the right combination of people, food, beverages and environment. Using registration questions to determine choice of cuisine as well as common interests, MGE matched “like” event guests at the same table, including a host and co-host who personally invited the other guests and helped initiate meaningful conversations. Seven different cuisines with matching décor themes helped ensure unique experiences for all guests. And the conversations, because they were based on common interests, were fun and lively. Finally, guests enjoyed a large-group dessert and dancing after-glow, initiated by a kabuki drop. Very memorable indeed!

Maritz TravelThe ExchangeCollaborative 2016

Using its design principle of The Exchange, Maritz Travel’s Collaborative 2016 guests were treated to lively exchanges of culture, ideas, stories and fun in New York City. The event included a fabulous final evening, held at Tao Downtown, which immediately offers a distinct sense of arrival and discovery as guests descend into a multi-level space. The subterranean restaurant, located in the heart of Chelsea, is intended to look and feel as if it has been there for decades and only unearthed recently to reveal the artifacts within. The result was an evening that built on the design principle by allowing for freeform exchanges among all guests, and the awesome entertainment certainly gave them something to talk about.
