Friday, October 20, 2017 Greetings from the DC GIA Alumni Association! Here’s to hoping you had a great summer and are excited about the coming Holiday season. 2017 has held many opportunities for the jewelry retailer, designer, and appraiser, and we’d like to celebrate our continued success with you at our 2017 Holiday Party and Auction. This year, the party will be at the Fairfax Marriott on Sunday, December 3, 2017, and we look forward to seeing you! Through our auction, we have been able to invite speakers whose insights are essential to serving our unique customers. In addition to our Tucson panels and reviews, we have hosted speakers who bring value to everyone’s niche. Michelle Graff of National Jeweler opened the year by discussing trends, marketing, and attitudes that are changing the industry. Molly Clark answered retailers’ questions about optimizing social media and demystified the topic for the uninitiated. A highlight of the summer, over 40 of us attended Hillwood Museum and viewed a rare exhibit of Marjorie Merriweather Post’s legendary jewels. We serve our membership of well-informed, well-connected jewelry professionals through excellent speakers and unmatched member knowledge. These assets are only possible when you attend, donate to, and bid at the auction. Join us and tell us what you’d like to see at future meetings. In addition to our new venue, past president and longtime DCGIA Board member Carolyn Chappell will be our event Chair this year. Tickets to the dinner/auction are $55.00 per guest. Please complete the enclosed R.S.V.P. and mail your payment, number of guests, and meal choice by November 22, 2017 to: Carolyn G.
