SYDNEY CITY2SURF 2017 FUNDRAISING PACK

THANK YOU for your interest in supporting Bears of Hope in the 2017 Sydney City2Surf held on Sunday 13th August.

The City2Surf is an amazing 14km scenic course starting in the Sydney CBD and finishing at beautiful Bondi Beach. Approximately 80,000 people from all ages participate in this iconic event each year.

This is our favourite sporting event and has proven to be one of our most successful fundraising campaigns too, thanks to new and many returning supporters.

We have mums, dads, grandparents, aunties, uncles and friends all express how wonderful an opportunity it is to honour a baby close to their hearts in this way, to support a friend through their loss by joining them on the day, and to be able to give back and help other bereaved families by raising some dollars along the way.

BEARS OF HOPE PREGNANCY & INFANT LOSS SUPPORT

Provides leading support and exceptional care for families who experience the loss of their baby through miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal or infant loss. This incorporates donating bears and support packages to families within days of their loss as well as offering a range of professional services through our Beyond the Bear support program including Counselling, Grief Workshops, Support Groups and Community Events. We can only continue to do this through community fundraising each year so we truly appreciate your support of our charity.

PREGNANCY & INFANT LOSS STATISTICS

Every day in Australia... 6 babies are stillborn3 babies die before their 1st Birthday A miscarriage occurs every 3.5 minutes. This means approximately 150,000 parents may need support every year in Australia.

FUNDRAISING GOAL

Our goal is to raise $100,000. The City2Surf campaign helps fund our early support program each year– our bear and support package service as well as our Baby Keepsake record books donated to families across Australia.

To help you with your fundraising efforts, we have some fantastic NEW incentives on offer !!

2017 FUNDRAISING INCENTIVES

These incentives are for each individual fundraiser who have their own individual fundraising page (whether they are on their own or linked to a team page). If you share a page with your partner, your fundraising is divided in half to work out your individual fundraising total.

$100+ • 1 bear of hope and resource pack donated in honour of your baby• 1 baby keepsake record book donated in honour of your baby

*For every $100 you raise, a Bear of Hope/resource pack and Baby Keepsake Book will be donated in memory of a baby special to you.

**In order for shirts to get printed and posted in time for the event we require you to reach $400 by Friday 14th July 2017 (4 weeks out from event). We will still honour the incentive if you reach it after this date, however, there are no guarantees your shirt will arrive in time for the event. Please contact us as soon as you reach your fundraising incentive. Shirts and caps will not be posted after the campaign closing date 10th September 2017.

*** You must reach the $5000 Ball ticket incentive by COD Sunday 13th August 2017. If you have already purchased tickets to the event you may donate them back to Bears Of Hope to offer to a bereaved family that may not have the opportunity to purchase tickets.

Highest Individual Fundraiser

A trophy will be given to the individual with the highest amount raised.

Please note: If a couple share the one page, the individual fundraising total is worked out by dividing the total raised in half.

Highest Team Fundraiser

A trophy will be given to the team who raises the highest funds.

CREATE YOUR FUNDRAISING PAGE TODAY!

It’s easy to set up a fundraising page and start fundraising straight away. You don’t need to wait to register in the event.

Each fundraiser must have their own online fundraising page (through the Everyday Hero City2Surf campaign) to be eligible for the incentives. The only exception is for couples (maximum 2 people) who can share the one page.

Individuals

Individuals please create your individual fundraising page by joining our Bears of Hope team fundraising page here:https://city2surf2017.everydayhero.com/au/bearsofhope

Log in (if you already have an Everyday Hero account) or simply click on “Join Team” via the link and follow the prompts.

If you are fundraising as an individual and your fundraising page is not linked to our Bears Of Hope Team fundraising page (it should show on right hand side of your page), please visit our page above and request to join it, so that your fundraising total is included in our overall Bears Of Hope online total.

Teams

Create your own online fundraising team page outside of the Bears of Hope's fundraising team page through here:http://fundraise.city2surf.com.au/event/city2surf2017

The team leader must set their page up first and then create a team page (link is on right hand side of their individual page to create a team page). Each of your fundraising members then create their own fundraising page by clicking on the “join team” button on your team page you just created and follow the prompts.

You will have your individual total and your own team total. Your team total will not show or be included in the Bears Of Hope's Team fundraising page total. It will be included in the leader board on our campaign page.

If your page is not linked to the relevant team page, visit the team page you wish to join, and click on Join Team. Your team leader may then need to accept you. Your fundraising will then be added to the team’s overall fundraising total.

COMMUNITY FUNDRAISING (OFFLINE)

We encourage you to hold a community fundraiser to help you with your online fundraising such as a coin box collection (placed at a local business), workplace fundraiser, raffle etc. Coin box collections are very easy and can bring in an extra few hundred dollars over the months. You will first need to complete a fundraising application form and be issued an Authority to Fundraise letter from Bears Of Hope with a unique fundraising number. This is another way to raise more funds in conjunction with your online fundraising.

Adding fundraising money to your pageAny funds raised offline must be added to your page by downloading the Pledge Form from your City2Surf online fundraising page (located on right hand side of your page. You will need to be logged in to your page to access this form). You then take the Pledge Form and your fundraising money to a post office to have it directly deposited to your online page.

Please note, some offline funds (e.g. coin box collections, raffles) cannot be added to your page through the donate button. Please verify with us first if you are unsure.

Details of your community fundraising deposit via the Pledge form (authority number, date and amount banked) must then be forwarded to [email protected] so we can action against your fundraiser. All resources must be returned to finalise your fundraiser .

LEADER BOARDS

We have 2 leader boards on display on our Bears Of Hope City2Surf campaign page https://www.everydayhero.com.au/event/city2surfBOH. One is for all individuals fundraising for Bears Of Hope and the other for Team fundraising pages. If you can’t find you or your team on there, please send us an email.

CLOSING DATE FOR FUNDRAISING

City2Surf fundraising for Bears Of Hope will finish on 10th September 2017.

This means that all donations need to have been received and any community fundraising must be finalised and banked prior to this date.

We will organise the bears and the keepsake books to be actioned from this date. Please make sure we have your baby’s details to donate the bears and keepsake books in their honour. If we don’t receive contact by this date, your funds raised will go towards the general objectives of our organisation.

EVENT REGISTRATION

Each person participating must register in the event via http://www.city2surf.com.au. During registration, you will be given the option to support a charity with a fundraising page. If you have already created your fundraising page prior to registration, please skip this option. Otherwise, you can create your fundraising page during this process.

If you are walking/running with others, it is best to work out a starting position/group before registering so that you all register at the same point.

Event registrations usually open in April.

MEETING POINT

Bears Of Hope organise meeting points before and after the event for the opportunity to meet with other Bears Of Hope supporters and have some photographs taken.

This year, you have the opportunity to start with Bears Of Hope as a team, for those who register to start in the back of the pack.

Details about this will be communicated with you closer to the event.

FACEBOOK GROUP

We have set up a private facebook group for our City2Surf fundraisers this year.Join here https://www.facebook.com/groups/1843492649262160

This group aims to inspire, connect one another and keep you all updated with the fundraising campaign.

Only those who have signed up as fundraisers for BOH or registered in the event in support of BOH will gain membership.

SHIRTS, HATS AND SIZING GUIDE

We would love all our supporters wearing Bears Of Hope shirts (and hats) on the day. They are a real stand out in the crowd helping us provide awareness of our charity as well as the opportunity to acknowledge a precious baby.

If you do not reach the fundraising incentive to receive a free shirt you can purchase your shirt or hat separately.

Free Shirt OrderingWe require you to reach your free shirt incentive by Friday 14th July 2017 (4 weeks out from the event) to allow time for printing and posting. Please complete this online shirt order form: https://bearsofhope.wufoo.com/forms/city2surf-shirt-order-form asap so that we have your order ready for when you hit the fundraising incentive. The form can also be found on our City2Surf campaign page.

PurchaseBears Of Hope shirts, singlets, hats can be purchased if you do not reach the fundraising incentive. To guarantee you will receive your shirt before the event, payment must be received through our website store http://www.bearsofhope.org.au/a/378.html by Monday 17th July 2016.

Please note that we do our best to get them to you on time if orders are placed after 17th July, however there are no guarantees as this is our busiest time. There is also the opportunity for fundraisers (who reach their shirt incentive) to purchase cheaper shirts for children participating in the event. Please email us for further information.
