Who are we and where are we located?

We are interested in establishing a number of dealer-ships across the country . These dealerships can be tem-porary (one time order for one year) or more permanent (standing yearly dealership status) . Each comes under the same policy . That policy is fairly simple . Call or email the branch nearest you to determine eligibility . If eligible, place a one time order of $5,000 low volume value and get 25% dis-count (you pay $3,750) . Catalog quantities and discounts are disregarded . Maintain that discount by doing at least $10,000 discount business with us every year, and you will be protected from any new dealership inquires within 80 miles . Of course, smaller orders with lesser discounts and unprotected statuses are also possible if you do not have the capital or want to keep things experimental . We recommend that dealers charge catalog prices for

products that are sold as they are bought from Beeline, but they are welcome to assemble, paint, and sell at their own charges . We also grant dealers the privilege to use up to 25% of their dealership inventory for their own beekeeping needs . Below is a map with all of our dealerships marked . To avoid conflicts, dealerships must be at least 80 miles from each other unless special arrangements are made . You will notice that there are large empty areas . Perhaps you or someone you know can help fill in the map . We also strongly recommend associations, clubs, bee schools, etc . to pool their order for a “dealership” status . A primary objective of our dealership network is to cut ship-ping costs for the end customer, so any of these “dealer-ship” methods helps everyone . See p . 46, and 47 for a list of our dealers . Call us for more information .

What about dealerships?

Dealership Map No dealer in your area? Perhaps you or someone you know can help fill in the map! Or at minimum, pool your order with at least five other beekeep-ers for club/dealership discounts! Call your nearest branch for details .

Ordering and Shipping PolicyTo place your order: Call or e-mail your nearest Beeline branch (MI, CO, or WA) and be prepared to provide us with the following information:

1 . Name2 . Mailing and Shipping address3 . Phone number4 . E-mail address (if you have)5 . Quantities and Catalog numbers for the products

you are ordering .6 . Credit Card information including 3-digit code

and billing address . (We do not recommend e-mailing credit card info . Please call instead .)

Payment Terms We expect payment up-front for most mail orders in the form of credit card or check . For orders over $500, we expect a 50% down payment, with the balance due within 30 days of ship date . We accept cash, check, or credit card payment . Please make all checks payable to “Beeline .” After 30 days from invoice date, the bill will be sub-ject to a finance charge of 1 .5% per month .

Shipping Orders can be picked up at our facility by appoint-ment or they can be shipped to you . We are using Fed Ex Ground or UPS for smaller boxed orders, and whatever LTL shipping company offers the best rate to your location for palletized shipments . For estimates on small orders, calculate using the chart on this page along with the map below . We do not guarantee these rates and will always charge actual whether lower or higher . Please call for a quote for orders over 270 lb . or assembled and painted woodenware . You

may also want to check the dealership list on p . 46, and 47 to see whether you could drive for your wares . Our products are priced for the material, labor, over-head, and profitability that they entail, and excludes any shipping considerations . We do not bury shipping expense in our product prices . Shipping and handling includes only what is entailed in shipping, and calculated as simply and accurately as we can: Fed Ex or USPS’s base charge, plus a charge to cover box, label, and tape cost, miscellaneous shipping charges, and labor to do the packing and labeling to ensure that your order will get to you in as small a box as possible and in good condition . Likewise, several fees apply to palletized shipments . Pallet Fees (ask for our Pallet Fee Policy) will be charged for orders that are palletized, including orders that are picked up, for which the customer requests palletizing . With the best of efforts in our stock-picking, we can still miss parts . If this occurs, give us a call, and we will take care of the issue according to our return policy . Call if you want more information on this policy .

Turn-around Time Orders will be processed as quickly as possible . Most small orders typically ship within one week . Skid-sized orders may require three weeks or more, especially in peak season . If you need something faster, just let us know . We’ll check our inventory and schedule to see if we can accom-modate it . To receive faster service, we recommend ordering items we generally keep in stock (prices in red on all price tables) . If your order contains non-stock items we may need to backorder part or all of the order till we can complete them . If this is the case, allow a minimum of two weeks .

We do not guarantee these rates. Actual will be charged!Approx.

What’s this stuff l ike?

Any tips for assembling? We recommend several methods for fastening our products . Please ask for our free Assembly Instructions Booklet, for directions . Also, see page 45 of this catalog for some of our suggested fasteners .

What if you assemble? We would be glad to put your equipment together . We use jigs and other methods to ensure a square and cor-rect finished product . We fasten everything with air staplers . Frames and Inner Covers come with the extra benefit of glue . If you desire other products to be glued, we can do so for an extra fee . Keep in mind that assembly adds considerable bulk to a product and adds complications to shipping . We are willing to ship assembled and painted equipment but there

will be extra shipping cost .

Can you paint, too? Absolutely . We will attempt to give you the most economic quality job possible . We are using a good grade of block-out primer and a semi-gloss latex with a 15 year warranty for a second coat . We spray boxes and feeders on the stack which means that the upper and lower surfaces do not get painted . You may paint those surfaces if you want them painted . Lids and bottom boards get complete first coats . Sides and exposed surfaces are given a second coat . Since inner covers are usually not exposed we do not offer painting on them . We use white unless otherwise specified . We can do any other color using Wal-Mart’s color chips for reference . However we will charge an extra $25 per color per job for the

We’ll describe our woodenware as honestly as we can and hope your purchase matches your expectation . Want something we don’t offer? Custom projects and modifications will be considered .

While a beehive appears to be very simple, it is amazing how many parts go into it, along with all the different styles and options which can complicate your purchasing decisions . We recommend these steps in finding some of your products and prices .

Step 1: Consult the diagram on page 10 and 11 to help you determine what items you will need .

Step 2: Find the spot in the catalog for the item you need . In general, items are arranged in the catalog beginning at the top of the hive and ending at the bottom . Or see the Index on page 3 .

Step 3: Select the table for the frame size you plan to use . It is always in this or-der from top to bottom and left to right: 10-frame, 8-frame, and 5-frame .

Step 4: Find the heading for the grade you prefer . It is always in this order from left to right: select, commercial, and budget .

Step 5: Compare and choose from unassembled, assembled, or painted options .Step 6: Choose your quantity and Catalog number .Step 7: Bring all these together to the correct cell for the correct price .

Of course this may not answer all the questions . We welcome you to contact us with your questions .

extra labor required in getting and handling the special color . We will try to allow plenty of drying time before shipping your painted product but it is impossible to ensure that they will come through with no damage . Latex painted surfaces will stick to each other for quite some time after the pieces have been painted and when it does, it can pull the paint on one of the pieces . We will try to pack to minimize this problem as well as chaffing damage . If you desire touch up paint we can arrange to send some along . Because of the greater mess and drying time, we will not use oil base paints .

What about the grades? You have a choice of three grades—select, commercial, and budget . These grades are dictated primarily by wood quality, though milling defects also play a small part in determining the grade . Select is as near to perfect as we can humanly and practically get it . There will be no knots of consequential size . Splits or milling defects are not allowed at time of milling . Some variation in the width of box panels, especially in the deep hive bodies can occur . This is largely due to unavoidable shrinkage after milling . Handholds may have a little chipping at the end . For Commercial, our objective is structural soundness . There will be no holes or potential holes, splits of great significance (short splits are passed), or milling defects . We attempt to keep knots at least 1 1/2” from nailing areas (ends of box side panels) but can make no guarantees . Knots, sometimes rather large, are allowed within the panel and on the edges as long as they are structurally sound . We attempt to turn the best face out and pass it by commercial standards . Missing knots on the inside of the edges are permitted as long as half of the thickness of the panel is sound . We try to miss knots when we put in handholds . Again, there may be some variation in panel width due to post-milling shrinkage . Budget is the lowest grade . This grade may contain milling defects and large knots, but we try to keep them out of the nailing areas . In general, our budget has all the structural soundness and functionality of commercial . Since we generate this grade by grading down from better grades, we may have a limited supply .

How do I decide between Finger and Rabbet Joint boxes? Our corner joints on 10-frame and 8-frame boxes can be rabbeted or finger joint . Rabbeted joint (or lap-joint) is easier to assemble and if screwed and glued, will last pretty long . We are told that rabbeted corners will weather better because they do not have as much end grain exposed and no flat surfaces for water to remain . Also, the rabbeted joint allows machine work only on four ends of panels per box as opposed to machine work on eight ends of panels as in the case of a finger joint box . Hence we offer rabbeted joint at a cheaper price . Finger joint (or box joint) is the long-time favorite and with our snug fit, will make a stronger joint than the rabbeted . With our more efficient manufac-turing process and a nice snug fit, finger joint may be the better choice . It’s your choice . We are prepared to accommodate your needs and interests either way .

How do I make sense out of these prices?

Buffer between lid and bees; can provide ventilation, especially if the Screened Inner Cover is used . The raised panel style (shown here) is the most common . Flat-sided works similarly to it, and the Screened Inner Cover is used mainly for ventilation in summer months .

Used for feeding large quantities in early summer and late fall months . It would not be a good idea to use this style during the winter when your bees are in cluster . An inboard feeder (shown here inside Deep Hive Body) or a bag with several pin pricks set above the Brood Chamber works best for clusters .

This is where the bees put the honey . Beeline offers two sizes of supers, but rec-ommends each beekeeper to choose one or the other and stick with that . This size is nice for elderly who do not wish to carry as much weight . It also works well for comb honey harvesting . We also offer plastic or wax foundation for this size .

This is where the bees put the honey . Beeline offers two sizes of supers, but recommends each beekeeper to choose one or the other and stick with that . This size is the most common super . We offer plastic or wax foundation for this size .

A metal gridwork with holes large enough for worker bees, but too small for the queen; excludes the queen from laying eggs in the honey super .

The brood chamber and year-around home for the bees . Often two brood boxes are used to give the queen more room to lays her eggs . In winter you will reduce the hive to one or two boxes so that the bees can conserve their heat . Beeline offers either plastic or wax foundation for the frames .

The base of your hive, and “front door” where the bees enter and leave the hive . Beeline has two styles to choose from . The Screened Bottom Board (pictured here) is nice for ventilation and with the Mite Tray, is useful in monitoring your mite count . The Reversible style is the standard bottom board .

The roof for your hive to keep the bees snug and dry . Beeline offers three styles . The Garden style looks nice in your back yard garden . The Telescoping Lid (the one pictured) is most common for a back-yard beekeeper . If you have your bees on pallets, you may want to consider the Migratory Lid .

Telescoping Lid

AluminumSHIP WT: .8 # CAT# <2510-frame TL-C 4.63

The lid for the commercial beekeeper . The main part of this lid is made of tongue-and-groove . The end cleats fasten these together in a 1/4” deep groove with 1 5/8” for a skirt and 3/8” above . Another piece fastens flat-wise to the top . This piece also has a 3/8” thick lip to come out over the skirt pieces . This eliminates the crack that would allow water into the ends of the tongue-and-groove pieces . We recommend using long nails or 2” staples through that 3/8” lip and down through the end to bind it all together so that the skirts do not break off so quickly .

With each compartment holding one gallon, this two compartment feeder sits on top of the hive boxes, just under the inner cover . Bees access the feeding area through an open slot that runs cross-ways in the middle . Af-ter syrup is poured into compartments, slow-to-sink pine slatted floats can be placed on top of the syrup, preventing drowning . Or you can choose screen to cover the center bee slot and allow bees to suck syrup through screen holes . The bottom is recessed 1/8” to minimize rocking on burr comb left on the top bars of the box below it . When we assemble, seams will be caulked to ensure that it is leak-proof .

Screened Bottom Board Designed to be versatile, sturdy, and easy to use, this bottom board is stand alone . It needs no other bottom boards or add-ons to function . A 1/8” mesh screen covers the entire floor allowing for greatest ventilation and mite drop possible . 3/4” strips around three sides provide the entrance . A white vinyl-coated masonite tray slips in the back (or front if you specify) on a track below the screen to monitor mite drop . By using 1 3/8” stock for two interlocking frames we have achieved a very strong, durable construction . We recommend purchasing the assembled units because of the many pieces that make assembly difficult . Unassembled units are available at higher quantities and only to the brave . Since it is not necessary to have a mite tray for every bottom board, they must be ordered separately .

If you purchase 5-frame nuc lids, deeps, and bottom boards separately you will get a narrow version of the 10 frame equipment described in previous pages . However, the economy nuc gives you a much cheaper and less perma-nent option for situations such as making up nucs to sell in which the nuc will probably soon be discarded . These economy nucs consist of a nuc hive body (deep or medium) a simple board with 3/4” strips on top to make an entrance for bottom board, and a simple migratory style lid made of a board with dropped lips front and back . The inboard feeder on page 16 works well with these .

Cut Comb Make comb honey—that delicacy that everyone wants! Insert these sheets into shallow frames (page 21 CAT# FSUWSH), and place supers on your hives during a good nectar flow . Har-vesting is simple: just cut around the inside of each frame, then into squares . Enjoy or give it away! No special extractors required to harvest this crop .

Note: sheet quantities are approximate .

For two reasons . Raise more drones of your favorite genetics to increase drone population for mating purposes . But perhaps more importantly, in this age of mites, use it as a tool to reduce mite population . Put these drone frames—you will always recognize them by their conspicuous off-green color—into the brood chamber . One per hive is enough . Pull the frame when the drone brood is capped and replace with another drone frame . Put the removed frame in the freezer . Repeat the cycle when the current frame is capped . Mites prefer drone brood and by doing this you will greatly reduce your mite population . But WARNING! Keep track of your timing . If those drones start emerging before you pull the frame, you have created a mite farm instead of a mite eliminator!

Green Drone Frames

The deep inserts are black and the medium and shallow are white, each with a wax coating . Black is preferred for deeps because it is easier to see eggs with a black background . White is preferred for honey supers because it allows you to evaluate honey color better . We have heard much controversy about the virtues and vices of plastic . Getting the bees to pull plastic foundation is tough without wax . With a sufficient wax coating the bees have been known to pull it out even in a nectar dearth . The inserts we handle come waxed but more can be applied by dip-ping in wax or with a roller . Medium inserts can be used for shallow frames but will need to be cut down . We can do this for $ .03 per sheet more . If you purchase these, we recommend using wedged top bars for the frames to accommodate the thick cutting edge .

Honey Harvesting

Honey Robber

Fume Board

The easy, quiet, and fast way to remove bees and pull honey . To be sprayed on the cloth surface of our fume board (below) and placed on the top of the hive . Bees don’t like it and run away . After a few minutes the box of honey is free of bees and ready to be removed .

The “black box” of honey removal—literally (but no magic) . Spray “honey robber” on the cloth surface, remove the lid and inner cover of the hive, place on top and turn PVC elbow into the wind . Wait a few minutes and the first box of honey is bee free and ready to remove . Works well on cloudy days as well as sunny . With several of these, honey can be pulled from a yard of many colonies in a short time .

Uncapping Roller This is the simple, fast, cost-effective solution to dealing with the cappings of honey frames to release the honey . You won’t get cappings to melt down for pretty candles, but you will get your uncapping job done efficiently .

Scratcher Ok, you have to deal with the cappings . You can’t get the honey out unless you get through all those little lids . This is the cheapest, fastest method we know (albeit a bit messy) . Don’t plan for cappings to melt down, but very economical for the hobbyist with a small job . Also useful by the bigger beekeeper to remove cappings in hard-to-get-to places . Oh, and it makes a good tool for removing drone brood to check for mites too—if you can stomach the process .

Heated Uncapping Knife Want speed for your uncapping process? Get hot! This heated knife is automatically thermostati-cally controlled (non-adjustable) and with a little practice, will increase your uncapping speed to the roller method, and yet get the cappings too .

A two-screen strainer to rough filter your extracted product . Honey is ready for consumption if you don’t mind some visible particles of naturally occurring hive debris—a sign that it is really raw! (Omit this device if you want really, really raw-looking honey—a few bee legs, etc .) If you want even more filtered honey, use the filter cloth after running the honey through this double strainer . Adjustable 10-15 inches .

Can be stretched over the top of a bucket or tank or place over the double strainer for additionally support . This isn’t ultra-filtering, but it does achieve that clear, clean appearance for the perfection-minded hobbyist and customer . (It will still be raw honey and just as healthy . It just won’t have the visible evidences .)

Do we have dealerships? Absolutely . If you would like to pick up from a dealer close to you, please contact them to inquire whether they have what you want and when it would suit to pick up . Our dealers will not necessarily have everything we carry . They are there to cut down shipping costs for you, so at least check . If they cannot provide the item(s) you are interested in, you may order directly from us . (Please see at right, a list of our major dealers across the nation .) Note: We also have some smaller dealers. Perhaps we have a dealer near you that is not listed here. Please call and let us check out your area for you.

Can you be a dealer? Quite likely . Dealerships widen our customer base, and helps cut the shipping costs for the end customer . Our dealership plan has worked well and we are open to establishing more . If you are inter-ested in dealing, contact us and we will evaluate your request in light of your area and proximity to other existing dealers . See age 4, call us for more information, and ask for our Dealership Policy .
