As an investor in the mission of the Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank, you undoubtedly also have an interest in wanting to know a bit more about the results that your investment in hope provided for families, seniors, children and others who are struggling. I hope that you find the record-breaking outputs and outcomes described in this report to be sufficiently rewarding. At the same time, I know that you, like all of us at Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank, cannot be entirely satisfied until every one of our most vulnerable low-income citizens can have access to the vital basic resources they need. And the fact is, 1 in 9 living in our region are struggling with the reality of hunger and food insecurity.

So while we take a moment to reflect and celebrate the hope and sustenance that have resulted from a year of generous community support and hard work, we are also looking forward, with determination, to the next chapter of our work. After all, there is no place for hunger in a community as wealthy in resources as the Fredericksburg region. Our community’s collective will to end hunger is really all that stands in the way of closing the gap of need for so many.

One thing that we know for certain is in order to fully reach our vision of an inspired community that ends hunger as we know it, it will take more people like you. Whether you chose to close the gap this year through volunteer time, financial support, food donations or advocating for people in need, I want you to know that I am grateful.

I thank you on behalf of the people for whom you have made a life-changing difference. By working together with Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank, you are a powerful, driving force in creating the kind of community that will not stop until all of our families are hunger-free.

Gratefully,

Oya N. Oliver President and CEO

CLUB KIDSThe Club Kids program is a structured after-school program that promotes nutrition, education and safety. Club Kids serves the needs of at-risk youth through snack programs at 49 sites.

The Kids on the Go (KOG) program provides low-income children freshly prepared meals from established sites 3 days each week for twelve weeks during the summer. Kids on the Go helps alleviate childhood hunger by bridging the meal gap to ensure that children continue to receive nutritious meals even when school is not in session or when a reliable food source is not available.

The Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank serves as a distribution point for government commodities that are made available on a monthly basis to income-eligible individuals through 16 certified USDA pantries throughout our community.

The Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank reaches many food-insecure families through our Mobile Pantry program. This program provides fresh and non-perishable food items for distribution to households living in the remote or under-served areas of each county. The Mobile Pantry rotates distribution between these sites within our service area to help us attain our goal of a hunger-free community.
