ALL-TIME SERIES VS. PITTThe Mountaineers and the Panthers will meet for the 63rd time overall on Saturday – the longest-running series in WVU history. The two squads first squared off in 1934; 13 years after West Virginia started a program. The Panthers lead the all-time series, 34-26, and the two have tied on a pair of occasions. WVU fell to Pitt last season, 23-15, at the Fitzgerald Field House in Pittsburgh on Dec. 11, as redshirt senior Jacob A. Smith recorded a pin at 197 pounds. Of note, the Mountaineers have won the Backyard Brawl in back-to-back years from 2014-15.

A PAIR OF WRESTLERS RANK NATIONALLYSmith and redshirt junior Zeke Moisey remain ranked inside the top 20 of their respective weight classes, as announced by several publications on Tuesday. Smith checks in at No. 5 nationally at 197 pounds, moving up one spot in this week's FloWrestling and Intermat Polls. The Charleston, West Virginia, native will make his season debut against Pitt Saturday. Moisey comes in at No. 19 in both FloWrestling's and Intermat's latest top-20 poll. The Northampton, Pennsylvania, native returns to the mat Saturday after earning a 2-1 record at the Lindenwood Open on Nov. 18.

LAST TIMEOUTRedshirt sophomore Zachary Moore led WVU in the 157-pound bracket at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational on Dec. 1-2. After falling in the Championship Round of 32, Moore notched a 4-0 mark in the consolation bracket to advance to the Consolation Round of 8 in his pool. Moore opened the tournament with a 18-7 major decision over Northern Colorado’s Taylor Kinn before falling to North Dakota State’s Clay Ream in the Round of 32 (4:47). He bounced back in the consolation bracket, though, winning by fall over Northern Iowa’s Paden Moore in less than 20 seconds. Moore then went on to claim a pair of decisions over Air Force and Virginia, respectively, before winning by fall over American’s Eric Hong in 1 minute, 6 seconds to wrap up the first day of competition. On Saturday, Moore fell to No. 9-seeded Taleb Rahmani of Pitt in the second period (4:55) of the Consolation Round of 8 to conclude play at the annual two-day event. Of note, eight other Mountaineers saw action at Cliff Keen.

MOUNTAINEER DEBUTSSeveral newcomers made their Mountaineer debut on opening weekend (Nov. 3-5), as redshirt freshmen Matthew Schmitt (133), Kyler Rea (149) and Hunter Jones (157) as well as true freshmen Nick Kiussis (165), Brenden McRill (185) and Hunter DeLong (HWT) put on the WVU singlet for the first time in their careers. With only two seniors on the roster, West Virginia has welcomed 11 newcomers to Morgantown this season.

TICKET/PROMOTIONAL INFOSingle-match tickets are available at a cost of $5 for general admission and $3 for youth and seniors. Groups of 10 or more can purchase tickets for $2 each. Tickets are available by visiting WVUGAME.com, calling 1-800-WVU-GAME or at the Mountaineer Ticket Office, located at the Gold Gate of the WVU Coliseum. Prior to Saturday's match, the Mountaineers will put on a free youth clinic open to any and all entrants in eighth grade and below. Family Day is scheduled for the 7 p.m. Oklahoma match on Thursday, Jan. 4. Families can purchase four tickets and a $15 concession voucher for $25. The Mountaineers last Dollar Day of the season will follow three days later, as the team takes on Big 12 foe North Dakota State in a 7 p.m. match on Sunday, Jan. 7.

LOOKING BACK ON LAST SEASONWVU finished the 2016-17 season with a 4-13 record and a 1-3 mark against Big 12 opponents. The Mountaineers earned their first Big 12 win in program history last season, as now-sophomore heavyweight Brandon Ngati pinned Iowa State's Joe Scanlan in the final bout of the day to claim a thrilling comeback win over the Cyclones, 22-20, on Feb. 12 inside the WVU Coliseum. Dylan Cottrell also became the first-ever WVU wrestler to win a Big 12 title, as he defeated Oklahoma State's Chandler Rogers in the 165-pound finals of the 2017 Big 12 Wrestling Championship at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on March 5.

WVU SCORES 600th ALL-TIME WINThe Mountaineers posted a 22-20 win over Binghamton on Jan. 14, 2017, at the Pitt Duals, marking the program's 600th all-time win since 1921. Cory Stainbrook's pin at 133 led the way, along with a pair of tech. falls from Devin Brown (125) and Dylan Cottrell (165).

WVU WELCOMES BACK NCAA QUALIFIER JAKE SMITHSmith returns to the mat for the first time on Saturday. He spent the majority of the 2016-17 season in the top 10 before suffering a season-ending injury in the Big 12 Championship match. Smith still earned an automatic bid to the 2017 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championship as the Big 12 runner-up, but did not compete due to injury. Over the course of the season, he posted a 20-5 overall mark to go 14-2 in dual matches and 6-1 in Big 12 action.

MOISEY RETURNS TO THE SPOTLIGHTMoisey took a redshirt last season and returned to the mat for the first time vs. Utah Valley on Nov. 3 - the Mountaineers season opener. Since then, Moisey has competed at both the Clarion and Lindenwood Open, registering a 6-4 mark on the mat this season. Moisey qualified for the 2016 NCAA Championships, but was forced to withdraw due to injury. The highlight of his collegiate career came during his freshman campaign, where he earned an automatic bid to the 2015 NCAA Championships. Unseeded Moisey knocked out four seeded foes and finished as the NCAA Runner-Up at 125. He became WVU's first NCAA All-American since 2007 and was the first unseeded wrestler to make the NCAA finals since 2003. Moisey led the team with a 32-14 mark on the year, defeating six ranked opponents over the course of the 2014-15 season.

KEEPING IT IN THE FAMILYWVU doesn't have just one set of brothers, but two. Zeke Moisey (125) and freshman Cade Moisey (165) make up one set, while redshirt sophomores Keegan Moore (141) and
