SAFETYPRECAUTIONSWhen using electrical appfiances, basic safety precautions should be followed, including the foflowing:

This refrigerator inust be properl) installedand located in accordance with the Installation

hlstluctions befi)re it is used.

Do not allow children to climb, stand or hang

on the shelves in the refl'igerator. They could

damage the refl'igerator and seriously ii_jm'e

themselves.

Do not touch the cold surfaces in the freezer

compartment when hands are damp or wet.Skin may stick to these extremely cold

SI/I'I';I ces,

Do not store or use gasoline or other flammablevapors and liquids in the vicinity of this or any

other appliance.

Keep finge_s out of the "pinch point" areas;clearances between the dom_ and between

the doors and cabinet are necessarily small.

Be careflfl closing doors when children arein the area.

In refl'igeratots with automatic icemakers,

avoid contact with the moving parts of the

ejector mechanism, or with the heating

element that releases the cubes. Do not place

finge_s or hands on the automatic icemaking

mechanism while the refl'igerator is plugged in.

Unplug the refl'igerator beflwe cleaning and

making repairs.

NOTE:Westronglyrecommendthatany servicingbeperformedby a qualifiedindividual.

Tm'ning the control to the 0 position does

not remove power to the light circuit.

_ Do not refl'eeze ti'ozen too(ls which have

thawed completely.

USEOFEXTENSIONCORDSBecause of potential safety hazards under certain conditions, we strongly recommend againstthe use of an extension cord.

However, if you must use an extension cord, it is absolutely necessarx that it be a UiAisted,

3-wire gmtmding type appliance extension cord haxing a ,gr°unding, tX,'l)e l)lug, and outlet andthat the electrical rating of the cord be 15 amperes (minimmn) and 12(1 xolts.

WARNING!HOWTOCONNECTELECTRICITYDo not, under any circumstances, cut or remove the third (ground) prong from the power cord. For personal safety, this appfiance must be properly grounded.

The power cord of this appliance is equippedwith a 3-prong (grounding) plug which mates

with a standard 3-prong (gromMing) wall outletto minimize the possibility of electric shock

hazard fl'om this appliance.

Have the wall outlet and circuit checked by a

qualified electrician to make sm'e the outlet isproperly gromMed.

Where a standard 2-pr(mg wall (mtlet isencountered, it is your personal responsibility

and obligation to have it replaced with aproperly grounded 3-prong wall outlet.

The refrigerator should always be plugged intoits own individual electrical outlet which has a

voltage rating that matches the rating plate.

This l)rovides the best perflwmance and alsoprevents overloading house wiring circuits whichcould cause a fire hazard fl'om overheated wires.

Never unplug your refrigerator by pulling on the

power cord. Always grip l)lug firmly and pullstraight out fl'om the outlet.

]),el)air or replace immediately all power cordsthat have become fl'aved or otherwise damaged.D() not use a cord that shows cracks or abrasion

damage along its length or at either end.

When moving the refl'igerator away fl'om thewall, be careflfl not to roll over or damage thepower cord.

USEOFADAPTERPLUGSBecause of potential safety hazards under certain conditions, we strongly recommend againstthe use of an adapter plug.

However; if you must use an adapter; where local

codes pemdt, a temporary connection may be madeto a properly grounded 2-prong wall outlet by use

of a UIAisted adapter available at most localhardware stores.

The larger slot in the adapter must be aligned

with the larger slot in the wall outlet to provide

proper polariS' in the connection of the powercord.

When disconnecting the power cord fl'om the

adapter, always hold the adapter in i)lace with

one hand while pulling the power cord plug with

the other hand, If this is not done, the adapter

grotmd terminal is very likely to break with

repeated use.

If the adapter ground tem/inal breaks, DO NOTUSEthe refrigerator until a proper gromM hasbeen established.

Attaching the adapter ground terminal to a waft outletcover screw does not ground the appliance unless thecover screw is metal, and not insulated, and the waft

outlet is grounded through the house wiring Youshouldhave the circuit checked by a qualified electrician to

make sure the outlet is properly grounde_

B INSTALLING THE WATER LINE

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Ilecommended coi)per water supply kits are _._TXSX2,

WXSX3 or WXSX4, depending on the amom_t oftubing you need. Approved plastic water supply lines

are refrigerator tubing kits WX08X10002,WX08X10006, WX08X10015 and WX08X10025.

When connecting your refl'igerator to a reverse

osmosis water system, follow the mamffactm'er's

I'e COIIlIIl en da tions.

This water line installation is not warranted by the

refl'igerator or icemaker mamdhctm'er. Follow theseinstructions carefldlv to minimize the risk of expensive

water damage.

Water hammer (water banging in the pipes) in housei_lmnbing can cause damage to refrigerator parts and

lead to water leakage or flooding. Call a qualifiedplmnber to correct water hammer bet)re installingthe water supply line to the refl'igerator.

To prevent bm'ns and product damage, do not hookup the water line to the hot water line.

If wm use yoHr refrigerator 1)eiore connecting thewater line, make sure the icemaker power switch is

in the 0 (off} position (on power switch models) or the

teeler arm is in the STOP (up) position (on feeler armmodels).

Do not install the icemaker tubing in areas where

temperatures tall below fl'eezing.

When using any electrical device (such as a power

drill) during installation, be sure the device is doubleinsulated or grounded in a manner to prevent the

hazard of electric shock, or is battery powered.

All installations must be in accordance with local

i_lmnbing code requirements.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

• Copper or approved plastic refrigerator tubing kit,

1/4" outer diameter to connect the refrigeratorto the water sui)ply. If using COl)per, be sm'e both

ends of the tubing are cut square.

To determine how much tubing you need: measurethe distance ti'om the water wflve on the back of the

refrigerator to the water supply pipe. Then add 8'

(2.4 m). Be sure there is sufficient extra tubing(about 8' [2.4 m] coiled into 3 turns of about l 0"

[25 cm] diameter) to allow the reti'igerator to moveout from the wall atter installation.

Approved plastic refl'igerator tubing kits are available

in the fl}llowing lengths:

2' (0.6 m) - WX08X10002

6' (1.8 m) - X,\TX08X10006

15' (4.6 m) - WX08X10015

25' (7.6 m) - X,\3X08X10025

Be sure that the kit you select allows at least 8' (2.4 m)as described above.

NOTE: The tufty approved plastic tubing is thatsupplied in the refrigerator tubing Mts listed above.

Do not use m_y other plastic water supply line becausethe line is raider pressure at all thnes. Certain types

of plastic will crack or rupture with age and cause

water damage to your home.

a vertical water pipe. When it is necessary to

connect into a horizontal water pipe, u/ake the

connection to tile top or side, rather than at tile
