Prelude Processional William Mathias Please use the prelude as a quiet time to prepare yourself for worship.
Welcome
You are invited to stand.
Confession and Forgiveness
Blessed be the holy Trinity, + one God, full of compassion and mercy, abounding in steadfast love. Amen.
Trusting God’s promise of forgiveness, let us confess our sin against God and one another.
Eternal God our creator, in you we live and move and have our being. Look upon us, your children, the work of your hands. Forgive us all our offenses, and cleanse us from proud thoughts and empty desires. By your grace draw us near to you, our refuge and our strength; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Since we are justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit given to us. In the mercy of almighty God, Christ died for us while we still were sinners; and for his sake, God + forgives you all your sins. Amen.
You are invited to stand and face the processional cross.

Sermon
Hymn of the Day O Holy Spirit, Root of Life Hymn #399
Apostles’ Creed I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
Peace
The peace of the Lord be with you always. And also with you.
After sharing the Peace, please be seated.
Romans 8:12-25
For Paul, true spirituali-
ty means that we experi-
ence the reality of the
Spirit, which enables us
to pray as God’s
children, keeps us in
solidarity with creation,
and gives us unseen
hope that God will
liberate us and creation
from bondage to death
and decay.
Matthew 13:24-30, 36-
43
Jesus tells a parable
about the co-existence of
good and evil in this
world. God’s judgment
will remove all evildoers
and causes of sin, but
not until the end of
human history.

The Great Thanksgiving
Preface
It is indeed right, our duty and our joy...
...we praise your name and join their unending hymn:
The Great Thanksgiving is a meal prayer. Eucha-rist is the Greek word for thanksgiving. Before we come forward to eat as a congregation and family of God, we give thanks to God.
The Preface is a prayer which reminds us that, in Christ, we are united with all the Saints who have gone before us. We are a part of the Com-munion of Saints through all time and space.

Sanctus
Words of Institution ...For as often as we eat of this bread and drink from this cup, we proclaim the
mystery of our faith. Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again.
Lord's Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
Please be seated.

RENEWAL FOR GROWTH UPDATE—WE’RE OVER HALFWAY THERE!
Here’s a brief update on the Renewal for Growth Campaign:
Phase 1 of the campaign resulted in our beautiful chapel Phase 2 consists of several projects needed to upgrade our facility, including:
Replacement of the organ console Cleaning of the organ pipes Upgrade and refurbish the fellowship hall Refurbishment of the sanctuary Critical maintenance needs
The church council set a goal of raising $1.6 million to complete these projects and we’re over halfway to that goal, thanks to commitments from 53 giving units within the congregation.
From these commitments, we’ve received $330,000 in cash, allowing us to already begin work on several of the projects:
West parking lot drainage project - complete New organ console ordered and to be installed - September Organ pipes cleaned - September Architect hired for design of refurbished Fellowship Hall - July
We will reach our goal, but we need your help to do so! Commitments can be made over a four-year period.
Beginning, Sunday, September 17, you’ll have an opportunity to make a commitment. Over the summer, you’ll receive more information about the campaign and we ask that you prayerfully consider your participation.

All Together in God's Field Where in worship do you see connections to the Bible story? Why? When was a time when you had to be patient? When was a time when you forgave someone? When was a time when someone forgave you?
